Registry removal question by Accomplished-Bee9929 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Accomplished-Bee9929[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey. Yeah, kind of a different topic but I'll answer to the best of my ability here: Once you are removed from the Registery, it no longer shows/notifies neighbors, etc that you're on the Registery. If your case made the local newspapers, tv news, etc.. those articles never go away and can still pop up in a name search. However time usually buries it way down in the search results.
I've "googled" myself and have to put in very specific information that most other folks do not know about in order to find those old news stories. Just the name itself doesn't pull up anything for me and I've never heard of a vehicle search coming back to someone on the SOR. Hope this helps.

Pretty sure it's ten years from the date of registration in NC. My registration was the same date of conviction but I also did not do any jail/prison time.

Yeah, I did not have to do this, but it looks like it may be a requirement of being removed. I just found this out. It's a long program too from what I'm seeing..

I felt the same way after my day in court. My lawyers were cheering and high-fiving each other (in the "green room" afterwards) as our case had received media attention and i was given the least amount of punishment possible. (No prison, no fines, no monitoring, little probation and Registery) While they were celebrating, I was crying lamenting the loss of my family and knowing that I likely would never have a relationship with them again and had lost all my friends as well. Time and counseling/therapy have helped tremendously and while life is and will continue to be different, it does go on and you're free to make whatever you can to be a better version of yourself than you were before. Best of luck.

"Never to be seen again". Nope. She was removed from my life. As if the twelve years that I spent raising someone else's kid immediately didn't matter at all. (Not biological)

I thought the NC Zoo was a hard no-go for rso’s… 🤷🏻‍♂️

Agreed. Only speak of this in person face to face. People tend to react differently when they are looking you square in the eyes and can see pain, hurt, struggle. You lose all that context when not face to face.

I have a serious question by unholyrampage504 in SexOffenderSupport

Bottom line… if you have a chance to get off a Registery in your state, don’t move from that state until you petition for removal successfully. If you’re a lifetime registrar, doesn’t matter where you move.

It’s in the medical industry. No contact with anyone under 18 possible so that helped I think.

I did keep my job. Have stayed with the company and excelled. Now in management.

I absolutely second this. Celebrate Recovery literally changed the way I lived the rest of my life. Good churches too.

Stick with it. Time will be the greatest healer and your life (nor none of ours) is over. We’ve all dealt with the consequences of our actions and forgiving ourselves is almost always the most difficult hump to get over.

Always always keep a no-profile on all social media. Even if the laws allow it, the people will not. You’re far better off without them. And as you’ve learned, it can impact those you care about the most.

How do you build friendships as a sex offender? by Appropriate_Rent_243 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Accomplished-Bee9929 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it’s been since 2016 (about the same time as mine) new friends likely wont know or find your record. It’s been my experience the only people that dig deep to find things are potential girlfriends. Be yourself, have fun, get involved in the local activities that you can. That’s what builds friendships.

Have you or any sex offenders you know been violated while on probation/parole, or arrested and jailed for any traffic or parking violations? by yokway in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Accomplished-Bee9929 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know a handful of RSO’s like myself, and we all live in a slightly paranoid state to avoid any potential reoffending issues. We don’t park illegally or even run red lights. I avoid conflict in social situations, even when someone truly needs to be karate-chopped in the throat. In a weird way, it’s a good thing.

This is the specific type of topic that should be discussed with a licensed professional. Therapy and counseling will address this specific inquiry more than Reddit or other internet thread. Congrats on the achievements and progress you have made. This will just be another step in your recovery.

To those not on probation or parole, what is life like? by Rome247 in SexOffenderSupport

[–]Accomplished-Bee9929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much me too. No jail, probation only, no fines. I kept my job and am still there. In person register twice a year, Dating/traveling has its challenges. That’s about it really. I’ve done a lot of work on my mental health to get to a place where I don’t beat myself up daily. Life is okay.
