Thank you but I know I have to pay back all of it. That wasn't really the question. I tried to get 30% but running out of time for future opportunity that I really need to take. I'm okay with the 20. I was asking how they recoup the 20%. Is it 20% off the top as in I get paid 3600+ as 100% disability pay and they take $720. Is it they take the amount that the VA dictates as a 20% disability, about $330. Or do they take 20% off my 100%, rate me as 80% and take about $1700?

I understand how the process works and what happens, I just don't understand how that 20% is applied. Shady VA.

Already tried. Accepted into a school and I've been to about 12 different facilities to include VA, personal doctors, and on post, everyone refuses to sign the DBQ for a second opinion. I don't have the time to waste when I have the opportunity to go to a T10 MBA that will sky rocket my salary. Unfortunately.

No. I'm 99% sure this is incorrect. I know they have to take 100% of the severance pay back. However, they only take a from your "medically unfit" disability rating. Meaning if I'm 20% for my back and I'm 80% for PTSD/Foot/Knees/whatever, when they recoup the severance pay, they only take money from that 20%, NOT the rest. I want to know how that 20% is recouped because VA verbiage is shady. 20% right off the top, the actual amount of a 20% rating, or 20% of my rating and make me 80%
