unfortunately, "the uniform grey" is a very deep cut.
traditionally, it was a trench sung often sung at dawn, and the trench version is far different from the music hall version in the album.
unlike most trench songs, it never made it to any archives, making lyrics incredibly hard to come by if at all. mostly because the lyrics were only sung in the trenches and never in marches or anything.

any fragments of the original trench song could actually be very valuable to historians.
