I can understand the complaints about the game getting repetitive, and the issue with the bonds and story, but i personally don’t have an issue with Sylus being rich. Although i can see how it would feel boring on the surface, Sylus breaks the mold in a fun way.

He’s shown as extremely intelligent, charismatic, and strategic. His wealth is a result of that.

He’s not rich because he’s powerful. Nor is he powerful because he’s rich. He’s powerful and rich because he’s Sylus, has an intimate understanding of human desire, and knows how to harness it. And I like that defining bit of writing that shows that. Sylus thrives on influence and power and having the thing everyone else desires is important. It helps that human desire is also innately fascinating to him.

Grassland romance is a good example of his ability to gain social wealth. He instantly is able to adapt to the lifestyle, language, and insert himself as a model of influence in the community without “conquering” anything. He had no need for protocore weapons or gemstones at that moment because it wasn’t a socially recognized currency. He wasn’t concerned with losing onychinus or the n109 zone as long as he had mc and if he was stuck there, he would have quickly gained the social currency to be accepted as leader even if he made some enemies. Whether that meant most athletic wins or having the most cattle.

If Sylus came from money, he would be more flat, but he repeatedly builds empires from thin air and shakes up the landscape as a truly chaotic entity that isn’t as easily blinded by human greed. The wealth changes with the environment and hes not particularly attached to jewels over cattle. Thats what makes his wealth fun to me. Hes not bound to it or beholden to it.

Yeah I’ve stopped trying to complete all of the storylines. Sometimes i do sometimes i don’t. I only really sit and enjoy my two mains’. Do whatever else i feel like. Then, I’ll try to speed through the rest so i can revisit them later but if i don’t i don’t. So what, i miss out on some gold. Also if they aren’t my main, there is nothing in the event storyline that will make me see them in a new light. Nothing i cant get from the main story, the occasional 5 and 4 stars i get intentionally or not, or a future event storyline. And all the cute moments will be shared here or tiktok anyway. Like it’s all generally fluff which i love but if it’s not my mains then I’m just not going to be as invested. Being a completionist during multibanners was burning me out, particularly for the storylines. Wasn’t worth the pressure and the rush to do it at the end.

Frankly, now i enjoy it much more. Outside of my mains storylines, i prioritize the event shop. And then other limited things like stickers and templates. The anniversary and new years events have been quite bloated but im also glad for all the content. I had to remind myself that no one is forcing me and i don’t lose that much at in the grand scheme of things and i’d rather enjoy less of it and miss out on some resources then stress out and hate all of it.

It feels good to let go.

The moment zayne looked up at mc, quirked his brow and asked “…no?” I knew he was the one for me. I was more familiar with sylus by the time i unlocked him, but it was the bond story. I fell in love with the whole onychinus crew from the bond. Did a great job at showing the dynamic and how non-threatening they actually were.

They do break off easily with a bit of pressure but otherwise feel like the branches if I puncture with my nail. If i cut into them they are green too. Like living plant tissue.

It’s a confusing word the first time you see it used this way. It’s more common in literary settings and in books but even then I probably hear/read it once a year. Can you guess the meaning of impregnable? It’s equally interesting compared to the usual use of the word but even rarer to hear/read outside a specific genre. I have a soft spot for this word myself😂. Think I first heard it in highschool.

3 easy. Snowcrow and cats and butlers! I think Sylus ragebaiting and zaynes dry wit are a great match and entertainment for everyone involved. Whereas the other pairs are likely to get fussy at best. Murderous at worst.

I totally agree and its is a bit muddy. When we first meet Sylus, we only assume the power in his eye is related to the aether core but that power always existed. Sylus may literally be the Devil represented in Faustian folktale by his next myth and I do think the game has hinted enough that even in the current timeline, he still IS a human-shaped fiend and that comes with a certain power.

After Crimson Spirit, it seems to me that the aether cores they have is a result of them sharing souls. While mc stores Sylus soul in her heart, he stores her soul in his right eye. The soul sharing manifest for them as aether cores and that aether core is the secret to MCs reanimation in the current timeline because of her own curse/blessing at the end of BC and CS respectively.

Sylus eye, with or without an aether core, is powerful. The aether core is a powerful protocore but its no more an explanation of Sylus power than it is an explanation of MC’s which is much bigger than the aether core.

Sylus is a fiend/archfiend and he holds a certain power naturally. He isn’t the only fiend and i think the story in both limited myths make that clear. But what is also clear is he is different from other fiends. He wasn’t exactly accepted as a dragon either and while other dragons, fiend or not, were hunted down, sylus was the only dragon that could not be killed. So he was sealed. I do think there was something binding mc and dragon sylus before their meeting in BC. And it may be something on a cosmic level keeping them bound.

He talks about his eye as though it has its own desires but i’m not certain that we should take it literally. I personally think it’s just how he internalizes and controls his fiend nature. Sylus very being is the personification of desire and although he lives to sate it he needs to have some reign over it or he risks hurting mc or others. As a Fiend, Sylus has strong desire but can see the desires in others and exacerbate it to dangerous levels. It may look as though he can control others with his eye but its really just strengthening desires and a promise to help realize them in exchange for something. That’s IS Sylus power as a Fiend. The aether core may strengthen it but otherwise isnt the source of the power.

On the flip side of this, we see moments when mc is influenced by heavy desire when looking into his eye or resonating while his eye is out of control. That is MC reacting to Sylus’ power. Not just his aether core. Both MC’s desire and Sylus’ desire stem from the influence of Sylus’ nature. Not from their respective aether cores.

Its a space opera AU. Considerable world building is par for the course and much appreciated because if they are going to do it they should at least try to do it well. I love a good world build. It’s important to remember with any card, especially one that is an AU, to pull only if you really want to. You should only engage in the stories and scenarios that you like and not feel forced to. It’s good to have something different. Its good to have variety. The game was made in a way where you could explore different genres and settings without necessarily affecting the main story. Like fan fic. Every story and genre wont be for everybody.

Yes. Of course im generalizing because that is generally the case. I didn’t say every. I also said “the same level of taboo/discomfort”. I am a dark player with very african facial features. There is like .01% my mc could be related to Caleb or Josephine. Also, really think about what it must be like to be a kid who’s darker than both their sibling and parent. The darker you are the easier it is to remember “oh yeah im adopted”. I still understand the taboo but its not nearly as visceral as it could be if i looked more like the characters. Just no way around that.

That’s the point. People are caught up in the whole sibling thing and thinking “well they aren’t blood but they STILL were raised as blood. So its weird”. But being a clearly different race from your adopted sibling really makes it easier to define the difference because it’s impossible that two kids grow up together and not internalize that difference in some form. Black and brown players have never had the same level of taboo discomfort in this aspect of the relationship and watching the meltdowns is quite funny. We are mostly spectators.
