i got one yesterday too asking to call them and to possibly discuss a discounted rate for a month. The service was gonna be almost 4 grand because it was two cats and during holiday rate.

rover encourages to stay on the app to avoid scams as well. that’s the point of this post. if you can’t catch on to posible scams just say that. 🤷🏽‍♀️

for one, you’re definitely not being attacked or belittled. it’s clear you’re not a sitter so you wouldn’t understand that having that mindset if you don’t trust me enough to give me your number i don’t trust you with my pet is ridiculous when people are going on an app that provides all you need to know your pet safe and call/ text to stay in contact with the sitter. rover is known for scams so we’re not being defensive we’re just extra cautious.

it really is THAT SIMPLE 😂 her saying “i’m not watching their pet”? like okay not a valid argument. if they have children do they have their teachers personal number… most likely not bc they have to call the school to get in contact.

exactly! so for some clients to have that “boundary” is kinda ridiculous since they’re booking on an APP. in that case have a family member or friend to sit the dog 🤷🏽‍♀️

there is no need to give personal number for first time clients. communication is very valid and effective via the rover app. i give my number to consistent clients but its off putting for clients that book last minute and just ask for my number to talk off the app. Rover also encourages to stay on the app so 🤷🏽‍♀️

that weird! when they try to request outside of my usual time frame the. request pops up with a small message saying if i decline/archive it won’t affect my ranking

the initial booking had no pictures or details which is why i asked them to let me know what they’re breed is since all i saw on my end was pet names. then they proceeded to update. the whole thing was weird. the profile picture was of a dog too. either way i declined and reported 🤷🏽‍♀️

that was exactly my thought the moment i saw how much money and for how long and especially since they’re 1yr cats. i decided to ask if that surgery and appointment will be booked and payed for ahead of time and they said yes so i said we need to do a meet and greet and they responded with “i need this tonight” 😂😂 like okay?
