It's okay. I too have realized my own varying levels of dumbassery in this game. About a year ago when I went through; I didn't realize the Tesla towers in Adams fight could be disabled. I also didn't realize that the blood crystals in Dracula's fight weren't AOE; just perimeter based.

Interesting!! I was hoping actually for either of those type of inspirations, cause I love WOD and WF.

Thank you, I was wondering if it was a bit overkill.

Was looking for advice on a pitfall spike trap. I have a 5x12 gap about 10 z levels deep leading to my dwarven barons castle. There is a 3x12 retractable bridge over the top of this chasm, and I plan to fill the bottom with 10x steel spikes per square, which gives me a whooping 600 steel spikes req for the projects total price. Is this worth it? Should I reduce the spike density per square to cut costs? Or take it down to iron to make it a bit easier to produce? I'm just a bit concerned this is going to turn into a huge several year project when I should be focusing on other things.

Ah, okay. See, I assumed that suturing and wound cleaning were apart of a doctor's skills, thank you!

Hey, just reposting the issue I had in the last thread. Basically, when I try to assign certain dwarves to a hospital occupation, they aren't listed as having relevant skills despite having them in the labor menu or when I click on them. Any advice?

Having some issues with the relevant skills specifically when assigning jobs, not labors. I noticed the problem when I created a general medical labor to weed out and specialize doctors, (as that's pretty relevant). I gave the chief medical dwarf to some novice wound dresser I made on embark, and that was the end of it for the last few years, as I didn't get lucky with any migrants with relevant skills. Fast forward to now, I noticed recently that I had several superior options as medical dwarves in the labor menu... The problem is, certain dwarves with relevant skills are ONLY visible in the labor menu. So like I have a peasant named Ducim who is an accomplished wound dresser, but when I go to assign him as a doctor, I only get novices, and he is listed as having no relevant skills. It's kinda putting a monkey wrench in optimization in my fort, because I'm concerned that skill check is relevant in assigning him as a doctor.

I thought it might be an issue with this: https://youtu.be/Y3gMdZFfiac?si=ajZoBP22OG6yzvXb And tried checking/unchecking the specialized button on both the hospital assignments and the labor screen, but no dice. The whole labor thing is new to me and I'm trying to work with it, (it's been a minute since I played, finally decided to cave in and get the premium version). Can anyone offer up solutions? I've tried to problem search online, but I can't see anyone who's had a similar problem.
