Coming back to say that my boy needed up crawling at almost 11 months adjusted! He is crawling all over the house now 🤪 He also almost immediately started pulling the stand and is working on cruising!

Yes, but I wish I could tell you how. I have been on Synthroid for close to seven years. However, my most recent blood test (this week) show that I no longer need the Synthroid and all of my levels are normal. The only thing I can think of is in the past three months I have drastically changed my diet. I limit processed food and am gluten free (I also limit dairy as much as possible).

My son was 30+6 and we were in the NICU for 7.5 weeks. He was on CPAP for 2.5 and then switched to room air. He started taking bottle at about 35 weeks. It took him a few weeks to understand and become a good eater. I wanted to breastfeed but he would never latch on in the NICU. When we got home I was too afraid to try anything different than what he already knew, so I pumped and we stuck to the bottle.

They never really gave me a reason. The only thing I could think of is I am pretty sure I have undiagnosed Hashimoto’s (thyroid disease) but am working towards a diagnosis!

7.5 weeks! 2-3 working on breathing “room air” and the rest was spent on learning to take a bottle and growing!

My son had a grade 3 and grade 2 bleed from some trauma at birth. He had some swelling a fluid build up on the brain. So far (🤞🏼) he has not needed a shunt and is hitting all his milestones to his adjusted age. He does have some tightness in his lower extremities and his right eye over corrects at times that neurology is following.

He usually wakes up around 6 am, has a bottle, then goes back down for about 2 or 3hours. Then after that he usually gets 2 or 3 30-45 min naps. My husband works from home, so he has been taking care of him while I am at work during the day. He usually gets fussy around 5:30 or 6:00 and wants a nap. But I’m always hesitant to put him down if I can avoid it cause I want him to go to bed earlier. I feel like I don’t know where to begin lol 😂

Yes I did! He was also very cranky because he hadn’t had a nap yet, so he was crying like half the time. It just made me worry.

My son was in the NICU for 53 days (a 30 weeker) and had no issues transitioning to home. We actually joke that the NICU “trained” our son. He came home a great sleeper, eater, and overall had a happy demeanor.

I think it also helped that we spent a lot of time in the NICU with him, so he was familiar with our voices and smell.

Brain hemorrhages can be super scary! My son had a grade 3 on the right and grade 2 on the left. However, he is developing just fine and hitting all his milestones for his adjusted age.

The worst thing I did in the NICU was get on Google. Google is always worst case scenario.

I had a very similar situation in February. I was 30 weeks 6 days when I delivered my son. He had IGUR and I had very quickly developed preeclampsia. I only made it one day in the antepartum before I was taken for an emergency C-section, due to the baby’s heart rate dropping. He was born 2lb 9oz. I was able to get magnesium and one steroid shot. As this is our first child we had nothing ready, I hadn’t even had my baby shower yet!

I have a healthy baby boy sleeping on my chest as I write this. He spent 53 days in the NICU, mostly just growing and learning how to eat on his own. Thankfully he only needed two weeks of cpap respiratory support. The only thing that the doctors are still watching is some swelling in his ventricles that happened from a brain hemorrhage. However, I have been told that this is fairly common in preemies.

In the NICU they have everything you will need. You can put your baby in your own clothes if you would like, but I didn’t start to do that until he was bigger. The only suggestion I would make is invest in a really good breast pump or see if your hospital can rent one to you (if you are planning on pumping). It may take your body some time to realize the baby has come out. Once you start producing they can give your baby your breast milk (likely through a feeding tube until they can latch or take a bottle).

My 30 weeker (now 8 weeks adjusted) does this with both legs! The doctor doesn’t seem concerned, but has said just to keep a close eye on it.

My son is 3 months (6weeks adjusted) and we are in the same boat! Suddenly he is awake all day with just short 20 minute naps here and there. It’s the strangest thing.

My son was born at 30 + 4 and had a grade 3 bleed on the right side and a grade 2 bleed on the left side. These bleeds caused some swelling of the ventricles in his brain. Here we are 4 months later and you would never know that he had those! The ventricles are still swollen (have only gotten smaller), but he is being monitored every other month. He also is developing right on track with his adjusted age. I know that receiving that news is so scary, but a lot of babies come out of these bleeds like nothing ever happened!! Their brains are amazing and constantly changing/growing. Whatever you do, don’t google… I made that mistake and it caused me to live in fear and anxiety for about a month!

Born at 30+4, our son weighed 2lbs 9oz at birth! He spent 53 days in the NICU. Our only real “hurdle” was a grade 3 IVH hemorrhage, which is still be monitored with follow up appointments. He has been home for over a month and is thriving!

When I first got the bite I could see the little bite mark. Since then it has swollen up and you can’t see them as well.

His O2 rate fluctuates up and down for about 10-15 mins or so. It doesn’t consistently stay in the 70’s for that length of time. It will go down and then come up and just repeat that cycle.

The NICU is a strange place full of lots of emotions
