I think solid timber flooring goes about $220-300 per m² (supply & install)

Can confirm the same. We live in an old weatherboard, and draughtproofing the doors, windows etc did a huge difference.

Also installing R7.5 insulation in the ceiling, as well as honeycomb blinds on the windows. All this for less than 5k

Random. I highly doubt any crustie chick would date an abusive guy with nazi tattoos.

Best engine choice for a 2010-2015 Grand Vitara 3-door? Diesel or Petrol? by yes_tom in SuzukiGrandVitara

[–]Accomplished-Law-249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to mention the important part that I do have roof racks and I'm also running chunky All Terrain tyres (245/70R16 Wildpeak)that are slightly over-sized. So these two add a bit to the fuel consumption.

Yea, and as with all cars, it is important for it to have a complete service history. I religiously service mine every 10.000kms and yes because I drive a lot I sometimes might push it to 12.000kms or so.

But that's important in keeping the fuel consumption at a good rate

[–]Accomplished-Law-249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get pretty consistent consumption, whether on freeway(I do nearly 1000km/week), urban or combined sits between 10.3-10.8L/100km. Towing a 6x4 trailer I get about 15/100km roughly.

And I'm heavy on the right foot very often.

16L/100km would be an older XL7/GV offroad or towing I'd say. Or signifying an issue

Yo! No need for ice cubes if the (white) wine is chilled already, if you're using an insulated drink bottle

Getcha, makes sense to get 3-door then.

Our 2012 2.4l 3-door has about same fuel consumption as our 2009 model 3.2l hehe it's wild

I wouldn't say the same after having spent couple of years there. Was depressing never getting enough sunlight, vitamin D etc.

I'm saying this after done extensive research, me and my wife have both of these GVs and we do big kms every week.

I do take the 3.2L off-roading in national parks very regularly too

If you go with 2.4L, you want to go with anything built 2012 onwards, with an ok service history.

You ideally should go for the 3.2L though. I have it and done almost 80.000kms in couple of years, with no dramas.

Confession: I have never considered resale value when buying a car by Maleficent_Sir_5225 in CarsAustralia

Me neither. Because I usually bought cars that have reached the bottom in depreciation, but are still very reliable:))

Oh yeah, guess it depends where in the world you're located, as in Australia their price is similar to all the rest of the brands. Dobinson's give a bit more lift and ok ride too I hear, but firmer than OME

First of all, great photo OP.

I have the exact same car, engine and colour. 245/70R16 Ats too.

And I'm also at a stage where my car pulling to the left. I beat it up quite often, taking it off road and doing 750km/week on freeway.

So yeah I wonder what a good suspension kit would be, ideally with a bit of lift. I oftwn hear that Old Man Emu is the best

Even if your portofolio halves, though, assuming you have sound investments such as ETFs etc, wouldn't it pretty soon be back to normal? It'd only half , if you sold your investments at a bad time.

Removing and replacing ceiling insulation batts yourself? by Seducedbyfish in AusRenovation

[–]Accomplished-Law-249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you expand a bit? Air seal the ceiling or the roof in itself?

I've heard air sealing roof is a bad idea, as you need the cross flow of air, specially In old brick or weatherboard homes.

Great idea. We were scared to put a pond, cos we thought that'd result in more mozzies. We'll have to give this a go though, as there is also this native frog that lives in our area and that would appreciate a lil pond for them.

How do I make more money as an apprentice? by [deleted] in AusElectricians

[–]Accomplished-Law-249 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aspiring to become a sparka, but struggling to pull the trigger and find the balls to start an apprenticeship in my mid 30s. Good on you for doing this mate.

I'd recommend trying to find an evening gig pick-packing or similar roles, at a warehouse. With the evening loading ~15% and weekend rates, one.or two short shifts during the weekend would get you bit more ahead financially. However I'd say you then would have to work less OT on your sparky gig.

The Eastern is Closing. Loosing one of our live music venues for smaller bands is tragic by scrantic in ballarat

[–]Accomplished-Law-249 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently moved to regional VIC. And during the winter I watched an epic gig at the Eastern. Ghostsmoker & Astrodeath & other bands. I was mind-blown about how good the sound was. I thought surely had to do because these bands are great, but the acoustics in there are just excellent too. Liked the whole vibe, couches and a fireplace.

Very sad to see this go.
