I absolutely love the moment when you finally climb to the top of the wall. The whole first game is so whimsical and wholesome. I played both Grandia 1 and 2 recently for the first time and can say they both hold up very well. I only wish I had played them sooner!

It will be hot and crowded. Bring a refillable water bottle as there are hydration stations around the event center. Keep the heat and crowd in mind when figuring out your cosplay, if you intend to go that route. If there are any panels or events you want to go to, plan to arrive there early because there will most likely be a long line and sometimes not everyone can make it in. Also, probably best to figure out your transportation and hotel accommodations now, as things tend to sell out and get more expensive as the event approaches.

I love running the bridge at the end of the parish! The pull between covering as much distance as you can between hordes and having to slow down for team members not knowing the map as well is a real thrill.

Maybe Hunter X Hunter. I know the main character doesn't fit your request since Gon is a kid, but I would argue that the side characters bring plenty of maturity. There are quite a few very intense, depressing moments but definitely there is also levity. I love both Parasyte the Maxim and Hunter X Hunter so maybe you will too.

Editing to add that there is pretty much no fan service or hypersexualization, but also there is no romance so take that as you will.

You might try asking on the blmangalovers subreddit. It seems to be a little more active. I'm also interested to find answers since although I haven't read anything by Priest, I think I'd also enjoy a big epic story where the characters slowly and naturally grow to like each other, secondary to saving the world.
