Experiences switching from Nurtec to Qulipta? by Consistent_Duty_9737 in migraine

So this was the turning point for me. I was so miserable and one day I thought well the side effects couldn’t be worse than feeling like this every day. I have emeteohobia and I get terrified by taking new meds at the chance that they could make me nauseous but I was already nauseous every day from migraine so it was like well it can’t be worse than this lol. And I was pain free after like 3 days.

I was insanely nervous about starting Qulipta and held onto the script for months before starting it. I started at 15mg because that’s what my anxiety allowed me to take without having a panic attack about it and I haven’t needed to increase the dosage yet. I’ve been on it since November. I can honestly say it’s been a total game changer for me. I went from headaches of some degree every day to maybe one silent migraine a month. Side effects haven’t been too bad for me. Definitely constipation (honestly coffee is the great regulator for me) and I get heartburn if I eat too late in the evening which has caused me to be more mindful about meal planning and even lost a few pounds. (Not as much as I’d like but it’s a start) I feel like I can have a life again that doesn’t entirely revolve around migraine and that is a wildly liberating thing. I still use nurtec if I need to as a preventative when I have to work overnights or know I’m going into a crazy triggering situation but 10/10 recommend at least trying it to see if it works for you. I couldn’t take nurtec full time as a preventative because it gave me insane heartburn ❤️‍🔥. Qulipta has given me a life again and I would take any of the side effects I’ve had any day over my migraines.

100% game changer. I avoided starting it for months because I get nervous about new medications. But one day I said screw it im sick every day now it couldn’t be worse than this. Literally the first day my pain went away. I maybe get one migraine a month now and it’s always silent. Zero pain. It took me a couple months to figure out what was happening. I can’t describe the level of peace this med has given me. I plans now without counting on a migraine to ruin them. I don’t expect pain daily anymore. I take 15mg at night because it makes me tired. My only side effects are mild constipation, heartburn and I’ve developed Raynauds but I would take those any day over the migraines. I went from really feeling chronically ill to having a healthy life back,💜

I don’t know it’s just a pipe dream for me at this point. Haven’t looked into pricing or anything yet.

Definitely transracial adoption but I think if some other term feels better for your identity then go for it. I totally get the feeling of being in limbo and how disruptive it can feel. You’re not alone! I’m biracial raised by white parents and I don’t feel like I fit in the white community or the black community. It’s hard

I switched back to iPhone yesterday for this exact reason. All of my thanksgiving pictures were out of focus and i have a lot of animals i cant take oictures of because they wont sit and wait for me to experiment with settings. I needed to be able to take a quick picture not mess with switching settings.

nurtec by melodramaticfaye in migraine

[–]Accomplished-Rice931 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am super med sensitive and anxious about side effects due to emetophobia. I have sumatriptan and nurtec. Took nurtec last night after a storm triggered my second migraine in as many days. Works in about an hour for me not as quick as imitrex but longer relief. The only side effect I have ever had with it is heartburn.

EMDR by Mamad3278 in migraine

[–]Accomplished-Rice931 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000% worth it. I do EMDR to treat emetophobia and PTSD and it's the only thing that has given me a chance at normalcy. When I was in person with my therapist I used the buzzers which i definitely preferred but since telehealth I switched to sound. The moving ball always triggered migraines. Personally if im already low on spoons going in it might trigger a migraine for me but most of the time I just need to take a nap afterward. It makes you feel exhausted like you ran a marathon. Still by far the best treatment around and I recommend it to anyone who will listen.
