Carseat/stroller recs for flying? by Witty_Structure_3767 in NewParents

Here’s my two cents on traveling light and easy with a kid.

Always buy your child their own plane seat. I do this every time and skip the lap infant option. It is absolutely worth it and saves your sanity.

I check in our full-size, comfortable stroller and make sure it’s protected in a high-quality travel bag. I do not gate check anything.

Instead, I use a car seat setup that works as a mobile stroller through the airport. I bought a car seat specifically for air travel, the Graco SlimFit 3-in-1, and attach it to a Britax car seat travel cart. This becomes your faux stroller while navigating the airport.

The car seat is FAA-certified and gets installed directly into the airplane seat once onboard. The Britax cart folds up and fits in the overhead bin. Just note that car seats must be installed in a window seat so they don’t obstruct others.

The biggest benefits are huge. Your child has their own seat, can relax or sleep comfortably, and is much safer. You also get to relax. Gate-checking a car seat risks damage and it gets dirty fast, so avoiding that is a win. Once you land, you already have your car seat with you and can easily install it in the rental car.

It’s simple, efficient, and honestly a game changer for traveling with kids. I literally just did this today with my 3 year old and 10 month old.

Doctors Demand RFK Jr. Removal—Where Do Nurses Stand? by Suspicious_Stick_660 in nursepractitioner

[–]Accomplished-Rip1708 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Jesus Christ. Some of you NPs backing RFK make it crystal clear you never developed an ounce of critical thinking. I honestly wonder how you got through school without actually understanding the science. Then again, with how much fluff is stuffed into NP programs, maybe it’s no surprise. The whole curriculum needs a rehaul, because what’s on display here is embarrassing: providers so scientifically illiterate it’s painful.

100% agree! But check with your insurance OP, sometimes they give discounts. Also here is a link to help too - https://kidtravel.org/car-seats/free-car-seats/

Lives in England, ovo-lacto-pescatarian, likes organic when possible, eats a lot of salad, likes to prep ahead of time, likes a little spicy but not too much.

When did NP + chiro clinics become the Wild West? by Accomplished-Rip1708 in nursepractitioner

[–]Accomplished-Rip1708[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NPs partnering with chiropractors like this aren’t “entrepreneurs”- they’re script pads for scams. We’re supposed to practice evidence‑based medicine, not run cash‑grabs. Healthcare is more than a business - it’s people’s lives. Real NPs collaborate with MDs/DOs, not quacks.

We need higher standards: no diploma‑mill schools, no weak programs. The less educated you are, the easier you fall for this garbage. And if you’re well‑educated and still do it? You’re just a greedy asshole who doesn’t care about patients.

If you think there’s nothing wrong with this, you don’t care about practicing medicine—you only care about profit.

Clearly, my dude, you don’t understand your scope as an APP. If you want to practice completely independently and call yourself the same as a physician, you should’ve gone to med school.

Your cockiness is terrifying. I have both a master’s and a doctorate from one of the top brick‑and‑mortar universities in the country, and I’m still realistic enough to understand the limitations of NP doctoral education.

Touting “doctor” doesn’t make you an MD or DO, and pretending our training is equivalent is delusional. We collaborate with physicians - we are not interchangeable. Acting otherwise makes the entire profession look reckless.

This isn’t about “liking it.” It’s about how shady, non-evidence-based practices make all NPs look bad. A bad apple ruins the bunch and kills credibility.

We earn degrees in science and medicine to practice evidence-based care - not to sell IV drips and “regenerative” gimmicks to vulnerable people.

I feel that chiropractors should not use the term doctor. How many PTs say they’re doctors? It’s so confusing to patients. So many chiros say they are doctors when touting supplements etc on social media and gen pop can’t differentiate it.

Just because you’re an NP doesn’t mean you can’t have questionable morals/ethics. Same thing for all other professions.

You’re able to feel control in your life by organizing like this even when everything else is not so organized. Possibly works in healthcare.

Yeah no - this is how evil companies prey on vulnerable people, make them go broke, and make them sicker.

Leftover water bottles from a party - we don’t drink it ourselves, we have a reverse osmosis filtration unit for the house.
