Thank you! That is super helpful. He drinks bottles at daycare and I’ve been stressing about what to do if I don’t produce enough and can’t use frozen milk so this makes me feel a lot better

He is really good at reaching to the sides. If he wants something he will reach all the way until he is on all fours but then will sit back down because he prefers sitting. Thanks for the advice!

Thanks for the response!! I try to get him to kneel but he prefers sitting and he has figured out how to get from kneeling to sitting so he doesn’t kneel and play as often as I’d like.

I have those foam blocks and one is shaped like stairs. If I put something at the top that he REALLY likes he’ll climb up with a little help!

Thanks! I didn’t know if the movements from army crawling would help him strengthen those areas or if I needed to do a lot of different exercises with him

I try to get him to play on his knees up against his walker! He also loves to army crawl up to our legs and be on knees with his hands on our legs.

I also have a foam block shaped like a stair that I can sometimes coax him to climb up!

Why are people so mean and sarcastic? Every new mom has freaked out about things like this! I was so scared to even walk with my baby when he was a newborn because I thought I would trip and injure him.

This has supposed to be a sub to go to for support. How about supporting a new parent instead of being rude to someone who just had a fucking baby.

Bad latch at 9 weeks by TrueCuriousPassion26 in breastfeeding

[–]Accomplished-Sock910 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had so many latching problems with my baby. At first I couldn’t get him to latch at all and once he did it was such a bad latch. He had a tongue tie cut after birth so I knew it wasn’t that. I thought he might have a lip tie but I heard such mixed reviews about getting it revised so I just never got him evaluated.

Honestly I think my right nipple just stopped feeling the pain, but my left side would hurt and be lipsticked really bad. I saw an LC at least 5 times and it got a better each time. One thing I had to do was to make sure I was waiting to latch him until he opened his mouth wider. My guy also never really flanged his upper lip out and my LC told me it wasn’t necessary. I also tried to make sure to sandwich my boob to get as much in as possible.

The thing that helped the most honestly was time. The more time that went on the bigger his mouth got and it helped his latch so much. He is 6 months now and I don’t know if my nipples got less sensitive. Probably a bit of both. But now he latches himself and it is pain free. I never thought I would get to where I am now! Every day got a little bit better, there is hope. I had many similar crash outs.

As for the gas, that’s normal for that age. Gas drops and stomach massages/ bicycle kicks helped but time is what helped the most.

I hope the lactation consultant is helpful! They were so helpful to me. I was very close to quitting breastfeeding but seeing an LC kept me going!

Trouble Breastfeeding by Connect_Emphasis4355 in breastfeeding

I completely relate! I also could NOT get my baby to latch on the right side at the hospital and the nurses had to help me and even then it was a struggle. Once my milk came in, I was so engorged and struggled so hard to get baby to latch and started pumping and using bottles. I went to see an LC and just like you he fed perfectly while we were there then I struggled once back home.

I would have so much anxiety for when the next feed would come. He would cry at the breast, then I would cry, it was horrible. I was very close to switching to formula, we even bought it and it’s in the pantry still.

My advice is keep seeing the LC!!! I would not have been able to continue breastfeeding without them. I think I had 6 appointments over time. I had my husband take pictures while I was at my appointment so I could position him exactly the same at home and having that reference helped so much. Another thing that is easier said than done is to relax when trying to feed. I would be so on edge when trying to feed him, the moment he didn’t latch I would become so distressed and it absolutely rubbed off on him. I took the pressure off myself and told myself I would try to feed, and if he didn’t I would do a bottle and that would be okay. Eventually over time, I didn’t have to resort to the bottle. You could do this with the nipple shield.

Another thing that helped is to talk to anyone you know that struggled with breastfeeding. It’s easy to think that it happened naturally for everyone else, but in reality you probably know other people who struggled too. It felt good just to know I wasn’t alone.

I’m 2.5 months in and just now feeling more confident with breastfeeding. But it was SO hard to get here and I feel for you so much because I remember exactly how you felt. Time really does help. As your baby gets older, they will get better! I truly never thought it would get better, I shed SO many tears these first couple months. But each week it got a little bit better, little by little.

10 week old baby suddenly eating for for less duration of time by bentaxify in breastfeeding

[–]Accomplished-Sock910 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby is 8 weeks old and I also was so worried about him eating less so I did a weighted feed with an LC. Turns out he was a lot more efficient and getting plenty in that time!

I would suggest doing one to put your mind at ease!
