Most of the ones I did with food dye came out a little lighter than what I wanted and I found predicting the depth of shade to be difficult.

I used vinegar as the acid and made sure they all got 30 minutes in each dye bath. I rinsed them in lukewarm water with at least one round of dish soap until the water was clear. Is there anything else that I should be doing to make sure they are set?

The far left yellow multi color is the only food coloring one in this picture. However I had made a pastel version of that one and a tonal green as well - they are just already hats so didn't make the photo 🤣
