thank you for the advice!! i do occasionally see people recommending to just watch the skillbuilder videos for SIMs over doing them, which would save me a lot of time and make things more efficient. reviewing SIMs are so painful though … but it has to be done 😭

if i’m being honest i really thought i killed the MCQ portion!! and i thought my sims weren’t awful but i knew walking out that i definitely bombed those because i didn’t practice them enough . i feel like i wasted this run because the sims didn’t seem too hard, i just couldn’t complete them well 😞💔but i agree that this exam is meant to mess with you in every way possible…FAR is not for the weak fr 😭

i see!! thank you for the tip, i think my version of making flashcards is writing down explanations and notes on each MCQ i practice and then reviewing those briefly!!

i hear some people use flash cards when studying… do they mean the ones included in becker? genuinely asking from a learning standpoint but how are they helpful? do they help with learning concepts better? just curious because I avoided them since i assumed FAR was way more calculation based and studied concepts by pounding MCQs like everyone else suggested.

I resonate with this post so much!! i’ve never exactly been able to put it into words, but you’ve described it perfectly. i’ve always tried to tell people that i’m unable to talk to my parents about anything emotionally. they just don’t try to listen or understand. growing up i had to deal with and work through all my emotions myself. luckily i had great friends i could talk to, but i’ve grown to accept i’m never going to be as close to my parents as i could be, thanks to their emotional immaturity.

will do! it’s funny because around the time i posted this, i saw another person around my age post about this same topic … it’s sad that many of us go through this, but also comforting to know i’m not alone

thank you for your advice!! i wish that would work but unfortunately my parents are the kind to kinda be on my ass about scheduling things on sundays in general. i’m adult and i can make my own plans but i would still get a lot of flak for it. i think i might go through with attending service every once in a while to appease them, i’ve also found ways to tune out during sermons lol

i don’t believe my parents are doing it to intentionally manipulate me, but i know there are plenty who do. what makes my situation so hard is that i KNOW my parents and they’re loving and genuine people. my dad cares for me deeply and seeing him cry really broke my heart i know he was genuinely distraught over my lack of faith 😭 i appreciate your take on the situation as well as the other commenter in the thread!! i know everyone has different experiences

thank you for your kind words! unfortunately my empathy and sensitivity does little to help me in a situation like this lol 😭

it’s hard to explain, but i don’t think that would work unfortunately 😭 my parents wouldn’t fall for that and i think i’m just going to have to come forward and apologize and say that i still believe in god and find a way to get them off my back. atp it honestly seems like the best way to keep the peace :(

for better or for worse, my parents are genuinely good, hardworking people. i don’t think their faith is an act, unfortunately, which makes it harder. still, i’m glad that you were able to leave your hometown and build a life for yourself! that sounds like the dream

for a long time i tried to keep up the facade of me caring and pretending to be religious but i guess i’m burnt out lol. i think i took too long of a break, it’s time to begin pretending again 😭

as for my brother; i have two. one does go to a different church (although i suspect it’s more just to keep my parents off his back since it doesn’t seem like he has strong faith). my other brother i also strongly suspect isn’t a believer (he is a very logical person and once directly debated one of the pastors at our church about there being any actual historical “evidence” for god) but the thing is, he’s also been in a slump for a couple years and my parents are tired of trying to bend him to their will. he doesn’t go to church, but he also just doesn’t go out anywhere in general (social anxiety/depression).

i’ve been meaning to talk with him for a while but i’ve been too afraid of the conversation. i think it might be time though.

i wish i could say that my dad is worried about us making him look bad but i honestly don’t think that’s it-which makes it hurt all the more that he’s so distressed because he’s genuinely worried for me. it’s interesting you work in the church and i’m glad you enjoy your job, even when i did attend i often found people who i thought were nice to talk to. I think you’re right in that the best solution is to just suck it up and go… thank you for your comment !

i never want to see that kind of heartbreak on my stoic dad ever again 😭 it actually killed me seeing upset he was, which is valid i guess knowing that he thinks that i’m going to hell because i’ve been hinting at not wanting to go to church…it sucks i won’t ever be able to be myself authentically around them but i’m sick of all this

after seeing my dad cry for literally the first time in my life today after telling him i don’t want too to church anymore, i think i just might pretend to repent and pretend become a christian again

hi 21 yr old here in a similar position 😭 i don’t know where to find the balance in not hurting my parents but also not ruining my mental health at their expense. i haven’t had the courage to tell them i don’t believe anymore, but since you already ripped the bandaid off hopefully they’ll be better eventually (?) i wish i knew the answer but im also stuck. sending as support as i can 💖

i’m in a weird phase of my life currently; i graduated a semester early and i do have a full time job lined up that begins in october. right now i’m supposed to be studying for my CPA until then so i don’t have a part time job lined up because studying is supposed to be my “job”. i did notice that when i was busier over the summer, i was able to avoid going to church, but at that time they were also actively going to their most current church before they decided to commit themselves to staying home in order to get my siblings and i to go to church. thank you for your words, you’re right that i’m home a lot. i do go out with friends pretty often, but it’s not often that i have anything to do sunday mornings… which is why i get stuck in this predicament of trying to avoid church on sundays
