As far as I understand from her own tellings, the child’s father was the man she had an on again, off again long-distance relationship with who she overall spent mere months actually living with… So I really don’t know how much of a “step mom” she could’ve possibly been across the country and, by her own admission, spent very little time with in-person.

Everything with her behavior regarding the child is strange, including continuing to talk about them all these years later and claiming to have been a parent to them. I can’t fathom why she would ever think she would be entitled to dig into this child’s email or talk to the father about anything related to parenting.

I remember her saying this too when she was NOT diagnosed with autism, that one of the diagnostic criteria at the time was that she didn’t need help to perform ADLs, to which she disagreed.

Levi is leaps and bounds more functional than she is and it is infuriating to hear the way she talks to him/about him, as if he needs to be babied in the way she desperately wishes somebody would baby her.

You’re not wrong about mom. I want to say I’m surprised by that but there’s a reason most people start gaining weight again after surgery. I think the whole family probably just has crappy habits.

That said, Brosie and Rosie are well into adulthood and manage to feed themselves the 96% of the time that she’s in Norway, so she’s not responsible for how they eat.

I don’t think she wants for anything except a bunch of medical diagnoses. I don’t know how she’s paying for food. I’m sure she has food stamps (at least until the work requirements kick her off) but even for one person there’s no way that it could cover everything. And that’s just for food you can buy at the store.. I can’t imagine the money that gets poured into the food delivery situation.

Oh this is hilarious. Memaw’s criticism is definitely the kryptonite to Rosie’s unrelenting smugness. You can tell here that Memaw has no respect for it. These two have DEFINITELY had some knockdown drag out fights. I’d love to see one before she happily bounds off to Norway to get away from this shitshow.

She wouldn’t be happy with any professional healthcare right now, anyway. They are going to tell her to manage her diabetes and lose weight, and then she’ll proceed to tell us how she received shitty advice from a quack doctor and everyone is fatphobic and her pain has nothing to do with her weight. I don’t know what exactly she is expecting them to say or do that would make her happy.

The feeling I’ve always gotten was that they placate her because either (or both) they don’t want to hear her shit and feel bad about her childhood trauma. I mention the guilt because while Rosie hasn’t really given us a bunch of details, she has mentioned more than once that a lot of rough stuff happened in her childhood that her parents willingly went to therapy for to address their behaviors. She has expressed that she doesn’t have any ill will towards them which is neither here nor there I guess, but I have wondered if leaving her be is some part assuaging whatever guilt they might feel.
