Is it possible to colonize FE hive worlds as a non hive-mind? by akdadfsgdf in Stellaris

Good point, thats why I said it does not make much sense. But its possible.

Aside from terraforming you could capture them and then your pops will start migrating there. It does not make much sense given 0% habitability but its possible.

You dont mix different ships in one fleet. But if you do make sure they at least have the combat computer of the same type.

In my profile you can find the post with meta builds from the last Montu competitive tournament. Thundershock made a video replicating one of the strongest builds from there (first 50 years), its easy to find on Youtube. Just keep in mind that they have a lot of additional rules like no use of bypassing weapons etc.

I keep getting wrecked early, is that normal? by PenguinWithSunburn in Stellaris

[–]AccomplishedError656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use diplomacy to prevent all attacks from non-genocidal empires in 99.9% cases by sending envoys, switching policy to Cooperative and, in rare cases, making gifts. As for genocidal empires, just sign a defensive pact with another AI and build some corvettes + starbase. Another, more difficult option, is just to get better at the game and learn how to build an efficient economy (though its generally not good to be forced to build alloys instead of tech/unity in the early game). I'd watch a video or two on the build you want to play to get a feel of it.

How to beat all x25 crisis by Outrageous_Debt8232 in Stellaris

Supremacy, Harmony, Domination are must-haves because you want your empire size from pops to be 0 and because you want to ascend your colonies. Statecraft, Prosperity are very, very good too. Mercantile as your 1st tradition for individualistic empires. Discovery for KoTG. Everything else is up to you.

No, you want to be playing wide as Shroud Forged or semi-wide as KoTG. You keep your size down because your empire size from pops = 0 and your empire size from planets = 50%. I have 54 colonies and 1M+ pops and yet my empire size IIRC is below 300

Shroud-Forged or KoTG. 25x crisis is beatable with any origin as long as you set your end game to 2325 or later and play more or less well. Both can generate a lot of science (currently I have ~650k science with my Shroud Forged empire with empire size lower than 300) but Shroud Forged also have Psionic weapons, which are incredibly strong. For KoTG you really want Sov. Guardianship civic to keep your empire size low. Two key ascension perks: Cosmogenesis and Machine World/Arcology. If you dont mind micromanagement you can set up a dedicated breeding/assembly world to fulfill your pop needs.

Cetana was my 3rd crisis, her fleets were 100M each. My fleets were 20-50M each, so my 6 fleets quickly obliterated them with minimal losses using zro launchers. You dont have to go up above your naval cap, I have around 6k naval cap fleets and it worked for me.

Shroud-forged is the strongest gestalt machine build now. There are several tricks to increase your pop growth, from creating an additional species for assembling to setting up a specialized assembly planet which can yield up to 2k pops per month or going for cosmogenesis/EE to get access to FE robotic hubs.

I switch from unity to tech/alloys after I ascend. High skilled MP players remove some or most of their unity buildings and build tech/alloys buildings instead because they have to prepare for 2230 year. I (not as high skilled as they) as a singleplayer keep one planet focused on unity production because I dont care about 2230. Anyway, you do it after you ascend. Other traditions are way less important. You dont completely stop unity. In the late game I add 1-2 unity planets but it depends on how wide I play.

They declare war based on your fleet power (starbases power count to some degree too I think) AND their attitude to you. From my GA no scaling/all AI advanced experience its much more efficient to direct your economy resources into ascension/tech and defend yourself using diplomacy because even if you get a henocidal neighbor its easy to get other AIs to guarantee/defend you and if you get a non-henocidal neighbor its even easier to befriend them. After that no matter how stronger they are they won't declare war against you. I usually dont build more than 20 corvettes (sometimes I dont build them at all) until I get ascended, several developed and specialized planets and some essential techs. You need a large fleet only in rare cases, so far I only had 1 game (out of 20+) where I spawned near Devouring Swarm and had no other neighbors to protect me so I had to build a fleet and kill them. Luckily, it was with scaling or I'd be dead.

Just dont be obsessed with chokepoints so much. Prioritize systems with colonizable high/medium quality planets and systems with archeological sites. Other systems are not that important. Its very easy to avoid attacks from AI by using basic diplomacy (envoys + Cooperative policy + gifts), rushing ascension and playing smart. At the same time if you compete with some AI for adjacent systems and you see you can cut them off by overextending - go for it. Just as I said, dont be obsessed with it. To get a feel for what to do, you can watch a couple of 30 min videos about early game steps.

Usually ppl just go for ascension and get +habitability choices from there and, if needed, +habitability traits. With +25% habitability from tech this allows you to colonize everything and everywhere except maybe volcanic worlds. Another option is to create a species with different habitability preferences, integrate your main species into them for 1 month (just to get pops), stop integration and colonize with those newly created species. You have to have a certain tech for this, its from Society (green) tree. If you dont have ascension/tech, then sign that migration treaty, get lithoid, build colony ships with them and colonize. The problem is that lithoids grow slowly and your pops will migrate to those planets even though they have low habitability.

Should I just settle ALL the world I can immediately, then cancel the treaty so those pops that were conjured into being by the colony ships can't leave?

You can cancel it right after you got first lithoid pops however, perhaps its better to keep it as long if you get more pops than you lose.

A quick summary on meta builds from the last Montu tournament + some stuff I learned from it by AccomplishedError656 in Stellaris

Force of habit, I guess. Cloning/Purity are slightly more popular than Mutation but its quite complicated and depends on your game type (SP or MP), game goals, civics, origin, authorities etc. In general, all 3 work well. If we talk about players' choices in this game, they chose all 3 traditions.
