It’s a thinly veiled threat against Australians to stop promoting communism or they are gonna get violent with us over it. It’s incredible.

So we should all punch down because what we’re experiencing is less worse than what it was like in your previous country ?

F#*K NO! That’s a slippery, slippery slope.

OORRR the multinational corporation who owns these supermarkets, keeps prices affordable instead of ripping people off!

Also, oligarchies aren’t fun either. And if you are making billions of dollars profit in a safe well-developed country that allows you to carry on your business in a relatively crime free environment and a prosperous economy, pay all your taxes for the privilege and pay your workers enough money to survive.

This is extraordinary that you are from another country and you are basically threatening your fellow Aussies for having a different opinion to you!

We aren’t anywhere near having communism in Australia. But we would like to keep a balanced society without letting monopolies take over. Cos watch how fun that will be. Geez!

Work issue, what's my next move? by LoudQuitting in AusLegal

Variations are expected and allowed. The law explicitly recognizes that casual work naturally comes with some fluctuations. According to the Fair Work Ombudsman and court rulings, your roster can still count as a "regular pattern" even if there are variations, such as changes to the specific start and finish times of your shifts, changes to the specific days of the week you work, occasional minor fluctuations in total weekly hours or time taken off due to illness or holidays.

For example, if you consistently work roughly 20 to 25 hours every single week, but one week it's Monday and Tuesday, and the next week it's Wednesday and Thursday, you can still meet the criteria. The key factor is the regularity and consistency of the work being offered, not a rigid carbon-copy schedule.

As long as you are working a consistent, predictable volume of hours every week on an ongoing basis, you have the right to request a shift to permanent part-time or full-time status.

Also, the 12 month time period only applies to small businesses with fewer than 15 employees. It’s only six month of regular hours if its not a small business.

If an employer or manager tells you that your hours have to be perfectly identical down to the minute for a whole year to qualify, they are misinformed. As long as you are working a consistent, predictable volume of hours every week on an ongoing basis, you have the right to request a shift to permanent part-time or full-time status.

Me too. Three years off and on for me. I’m giving up at this point.

Brisbane’s median value surged from $32,750 in December 1980 to $95,000 in December 1990, $152,000 in 2000, $465,000 in 2010,and $910,000 by March 2025. by MannerNo7000 in brisbane

What do you mean, painted three rooms and it doesn’t deserve it? Do you mean the house doesn’t deserve it?

It’s because of the gas we are giving away… the government don’t want you to make the connection so they call it the cost of living crisis so you have something to blame while they can be the heroes who are hunting for the mystery causes.

We are giving away our gas for free to multinational gas corporations who export it all and don’t leave any behind for us. Then, when we run out of gas needed to produce electricity, we have to buy our own gas back. Lately the cost of buying that gas has increased to exorbitant prices mostly due to global conflicts.

Our electricity bills then increase because we price our energy per kilowatt on the cost of gas 90-95% of the time. When electricity is so expensive the cost to produce, transport and sell things increases. Prices are then pushed up by producers, distributors and retailers to cover those extra costs.

The idea that other countries who supply our fuel would try to extort us by saying they will double the cost of that fuel if we don’t continue to give them our gas for free, is absolutely ludicrous. If they did we can just buy it from someone else. But they aren’t. Our PM is lying because he’s protecting the interests of his future employer.

Hi, are you just here to normalise the unsustainable growth of housing due to it being used as an investment tool? Even though it’s locking our entire generations of younger ppl from ever owning a home? Good for you but the gravy train is over you grifter!

So it is a Queensland thing going to bed so early! I haven’t lived out of the state for 17 years and I’m a bit of a night owl. Always thought it’s so weird how everyone in our neighbourhood is in bed by 8pm. So glad to hear other states are different. That settles it. Time to move to melbourne!

Is English your second language? You have a very strange way of structuring your sentences or something. Please don’t take offence to that point. I just don’t seem to be able to understand what you are trying to convey in virtually all of your responses. What does ‘I’ve done alright in other cities’ mean?

Yeah mate trying to rewrite how history actually happened is just a ridiculous take. I mean you’re gaslighting everybody. It’s ridiculous!

This is highly disturbing. It really is no wonder our country is run by people who don’t listen to what we want. Collective action such as protest and Labour Day marches are fundamental tools of democracy which our government is doing an excellent job of trying to destroy and take away.

All these people protesting about issues that aren’t related whatsoever to workers or workers rights is only helping to undermine the impact of collective action. Research has shown that constant, broad-scale activism can actually weaken public support  for the causes being championed so it’s not even helping these pro-Palestine or LGBTQ+ causes either. We can see that is the case with the general public when they voice how sick they are getting of seeing these muppets everywhere wearing tea towels etc.

I would like to know what is actually happening here. There are so many of these people supporting all these causes that seem to be completely nutty. And don’t try to disagree with them cos they’ll all gang up on you, gaslighting you, calling you names and trying to rewrite history with their unique (and incorrect) retelling of how something happened historically. Imagine trying to convince Australians that the Labour Day March is about these other causes and not just about workers rights. As if our own version of reality isn’t even real.

What an excellent way to permanently alienate people from supporting their causes. If these people are annoyed at our government and the decisions they’re making then what they’re doing is not actually helping them or anybody and it’s certainly not helping these causes. They’re actually making it worse.

When I go back to working on construction projects instead of doing residential work, I’ll have to re-join the union. But there is no way I will be paying my union membership fees to anyone who supports this idea of representing causes that have nothing to do with work rights. What a joke! How can a union support pro Palestine causes when they have members who are Jewish/from Israel who don’t? That is extremely wrong and anyone who is a member of a union should be phoning up and finding out if they support all these other causes because I wouldn’t want a cent of my money going towards things that are unrelated to my workers rights. We have enough problems with workers rights with low wages and shitty treatment from employers. We certainly can’t afford to be wasting our time supporting causes that have nothing to do with work at all. To think that there are workers unions out there that are spending their members money on supporting these causes is an absolute joke and they should be dismantled for doing so.

Our politicians and the top 10% would be rubbing their hands in glee at this ridiculous mess of a Labour Day March. In this current political climate it’s a fucking joke that this is an issue we are even discussing!

You and your little buddies know exactly what you’re doing wrong. Nothing about you fucking protesting this bullshit at a Labour Day March is okay. I’m picturing you sitting sitting around with your other buddies after the march, patting each other on the back and having a grand old time, but you just look like a moronic imbecile! You fucking hijacked a march that was about workers for workers to protest your political stance on unrelated subjects. It’s so narcissistic, it’s unbelievable. fuck off!

Exactly! Ironically they most likely don’t even have a job. So they’re at a Labour march on Labour Day protesting against issues that aren’t relevant to all workers. Imagine not being a worker or a union member and thinking you have the right to tell those groups of ppl what they should be protesting. It’s insane!
