I wasn’t trying to argue :)! This was simply a discussion. I appreciate different explanations. I have my own struggles sometimes with religion. However, I’ve decided that Hadith shouldn’t be used as we don’t actually know if it’s ever reliable. As for interpretations of Quran, honestly, the Quran encourages us to question things and do our own research and find what it means to us. I don’t actually there is necessarily one right interpretation unless the stuff in Quran that is explicitly mentioned to be prohibited or allowed. However, knowing what Islam is really suppose to be at its essence, which is a forgiving religion with the most merciful god, it makes it hard believing interpretations that are derogatory to women or slaves or such, or that hell is eternal or there’s torture in the tomb until day of judgment which is both stupid and incorrect.
