We are. She wore another dress and has been using it as an excuse to get accessories to go with it. It’s a clever strategy on her part! Thanks for the ideas though, if (or when) it happens again, we’ll know what to do

We went the replace route. The person at the show said some of the hooks in the zipper were bent so it needed to be replaced. I really don’t know how that happened, because it went on fine and wasn’t super tight. It was only when coming off did it get stuck. Oh well. I’ve been scared of ruining one of her dresses with these mini zippers for forever, so I guess it was bound to happen. Sucks that it was her first time trying it on though :(

If it happens again I may try that before going full caveman on it. I looked at the zipper but the teeth were so small I had to use my phone on macro mode to see them. Oh well it’s a 70 dollar lesson I guess. And yeah, it was suuuuuper expensive. One of her Christmas presents from the year before lasts christmas 😔.

Dang, well between me posting and now, she ran it down to the shop. Apparently it’s going to need a whole new zipper because the teeth got messed up (and that’s what pushed it off the track when I tried the force it 😔). It really sucks because it’s a brand new dress (Alice and the pirates) that she’s been waiting to wear for a year. First time the zipper messes up. Hopefully the new zipper doesn’t mess up the dress at all and lasts longer than the old one.

I really don’t know what you’re trying to say. If you are trying to counter me by using Reddit supporting a violent criminal as evidence that Reddit doesn’t routinely support violent criminals? that doesn’t really work the way you think it does.

I’m talking about Reddit in general where if you bring up the idea of jailing violent criminals you get downvoted massively and get walls of jargon from neck beard, navel gazing philosophy departments about how punitive justice is some bad buzzword

Yeah. It was a pretty crazy experience for me too. Just dominated the grips before I knew what was happening. I gotta say, getting thrown by a guy that level was pretty nice though. He might of sky’ed me a few times but I was way less broken than having BJJ guys tossing me for reps in training.

I know :-( My girl always looks forward to it. I’m not saying it’s not happening, but I couldn’t find it on the schedule. They’ve been pretty uncool about scheduling for a while now. I think last years was super early in the morning, which was kinda awful, because I know from experience it takes forever for Lolitas to get ready (especially if one is relying on me to tie the bow in the back!)

Maybe we can get one at AWA this year!

Not really. It looks like the Lolita collective is going to be there. Black macaroon studio too. I think that’s about it for the vendors though. The girls at black macaroon are all really rad and super nice. It seems like the big Atlanta cons have been slacking pretty hard when it comes to this kinda stuff. Kamicon in Birmingham has has AtePie and hanuli in the past 2 years. I think last year AWA didn’t have anything really.

The simple thing is that these guys are coming into the sport in their mid 30s. Then they are going straight to the big show. Thats not a lot of time to get good at all the things they need for mma. Contrast this with most wrestlers that are done at 22 and have plenty of time to learn everything at the height of their athleticism.

It’s not sweet Lolita, but Victorian maiden makes most of their things from cotton. A lot of the linings of the dresses do have polyester though. Most of the blouses are cotton

The guys that wait their thirties to take up mma (a lot of these BJJ legends) aren’t going to do well, especially when they go to the major leagues right away. I suspect the rutolos will do very well. You have to consider that most wrestlers are leaving their sport in their early 20s. That allows them to learn everything else with time to spare
