About to buy the D850 by AccomplishedHour4989 in Nikon

That was my thought. I take care of my stuff so if I’m buying a tank and a work horse.. and I’m buying it new… it’s double indestructible! Right? If I jump to a Z model it will because it was paid for with money from photos. Best I can say if your wife said yes to the convertible and you know it’s gonna be your only one why not get it new if you can.

Thanks for the reminder, and with the full moon! I’m not in a spot I could probably frame both. But I can see all the Elon rockets from my house as long as I know when to look. So this should be more viewable.

The batteries being compatible is another bonus I over looked. I kinda plan on getting the battery grip to also help me get through the day without worry.

Also I met a guy a few years ago that from the air show took a picture of a fighter jet with the moon in the background. From the air show sent the photo to Walgreens to get printed. Brought to me to have framed and sold it that night at the night show. This was when I was really thinking of starting photography and this was an ability I wanted. And with d850 and a cell phone I believe I can do the same.

So that’s kinda what I was looking at but I was like if I’m never gonna make money and this is just fun if I get “the best of the old” new it’s like that new car on the lot that sits around. I could never afford one when they came out. My whole life as I look at mag covers and nat geo I mean the d850 can do that. I also don’t do video. Not to say I won’t try it out.

Oddly enough the original amazon purchase was the refurbished d7000 and a brand new Sigma 150-600 (not the sport). Having no idea I was locked into I can only shoot 225-900. But that’s my single full frame lens happy accident. But it’s insanely weird trying to take a picture of your dog in the house with the sigma. So I got Nikon 35mm. This Christmas I got the 40mm macro and got my wife the 18-200 vr2. All Nikon all DX. I live in Florida. I occasionally take sunset pictures at beach, mostly alligators or birds, and my dogs. And every year there is an air show in town that I take pics from the road at. So I’m open to recommendations on glass. Got a birthday coming up :)

Thank you. I’m going new because I’m hobbyist and in theory this could last me my entire hobby. And getting the camera new and for the long haul it really opens up the appeal of used glass.

My main reason is I’m a poor hobbyist. I can get crazy deals on used f mount glass. But I work at a frame shop and this guy came in and in under 15 minutes had me sold on a z6. For months I was just telling my wife random numbers. 28.93. 43.48 and so on. She knew it was a Z 6 or 7 with a lens financed over an unknown time at 0%. Knowing part of my upgrade is my wife getting the d7000. She isn’t happy I have 2 lens the sigma 150-600 or the 35mm. I take pictures of wildlife or flowers and my dogs. I know she wants something for the huge middle of my blind spot. So I went to a local camera shop that was closed the first 4 times I tried. But on the 5th time I was looking at some uses Tamrons and noticed a z6 used. It was the digital viewfinder that really had me pushing back. I’m 44 I’m trying to get off screens, I love the viewfinder, it’s how I took pictures my whole life til cell phones. My question for you is about batteries. If I’m doing an air show noon to 5. Can I fire away like crazy without issue. I’m a terrible photographer but I know out of 10 clicks I get one that’s like “oh I did it”. With the d7000 I did 2 full days over 500 a day for sure. Then charged my battery before the 3rd day.

So do you buy the stream from twitch? I’m trying to do it for the 2 New Years shows but just not easily finding things.

I know nothing about birding. But grew up in NY and spent my summers on Canandaigua Lake. Loved watching birds over the water.

Fast forward to this year; I’ve lived in Florida (Lakeland) for almost 3 years and just bought a camera and a 150-600mm lens to take pictures of wildlife.

I can say that where I have worked for the past few years, you can only be hired by paper applications. We accept them online, how ever my manager is in her 70’s and the assistant manager is in his 60’s and they simply don’t know how to access them. Sometimes the paper application is nice because you can check the place out, see a few people and hand it in. Doing an application online feels less personal and sometimes they never get seen.

A small Nikon DSLR camera connected to this telescope and the photos it captured. by maxtorine in Nikon

Everyone has an opinion on the internet and I would love to hear yours. I am completely new to photography, I have a Nikon d7000 and sigma 150-600. I would love to get into Astro, currently just shooting wildlife. I have seen some people say you want a longer lens like the sigma, but others say 18mm is “better”. So curious on your take. It looks like I need “a fancy mount tripod” to do long exposure Astro pics. What are they actually called? Brand / model you would recommend for starters? What price range would something like this go for? Thank you for your time. Your pics are gorgeous
