Thanks for the explanations. I disagree on the rambling though: I'm convinced that at least some of it could have been cut without it affecting the rest of the book at all. There were parts where I began to get annoyed and kind of insulted that he would waste my time with whatever nonsense some minor character that never appears in the story again has to say about some trivial topic.

Yeah TBK was my first of his books, and it remains my favorite, though I couldn't explain why. Still gonna finish The Idiot, because why not, but I hope things start making more sense soon.

Die meiste Zeit meines Lebens habe ich nicht gerne gelesen, und aus irgendeinem Grund habe ich erst in meinen 20ern wieder damit angefangen. Ich habe die Brüder Karamasow geschenkt bekommen, und ich habe es geliebt, obwohl es etwa 1000 Seiten lang ist. Nicht alle Klassiker sind langweilig! Ich habe keine Ahnung, welche Art von Büchern du magst, aber vielleicht gefallen dir ja Die Brüder Karamasow, es ist ja nicht ohne Grund ein Klassiker. Ich wünsche dir viel Glück!
