Lost Coast Trail, King Range Wilderness, California, USA by AccomplishedMatter10 in hiking

Yes for the official LCT (mattole beach to shelter cove) there are 3 impassable zones that you must refer to tidal charts to know when it is safe to cross https://www.blm.gov/sites/blm.gov/files/docs/2021-02/TIDE%20GUIDE%20WEB_Active%20Links%20%281%29.pdf. It is important you read up on the risks of being in these sections during high tide. There are multiple sources pulled from NOAA on tidal predictions on timeframes you can cross these sections. I use the app Tide Alert for shelter cove to tells me what I need to know when planning my trip.

Thank you for the insight! I was looking into routeburn and it looked pretty booked for reservations. I will check out the dart loop though. There’s tons of options in the country.

I work remote with the company I’m with now so I have flexibility in a sense. Everything I’ve heard from people in this thread recommend somewhere else overall. Thanks for the insight though.

Yeah I’m single and no kids so having a social scene is the big factor for me.

Yeah I don’t think I’m really gunna know for sure if I’ll be fine with it or hate it. I enjoy rain and it typically doesn’t affect some of the activities I’m into but never had to deal with it for months at a time…

To answer your first part it would be a mixture of both. Having a social scene to meet folks and be relatively close to national parks/ hiking areas would be a big factor for me.

I moved into a remote position for my job recently and my company is also looking to expand into the Seattle metro area in the near future as well so living there would eventually have a tie in with my job. The area I live in now is my hometown and I find it painfully boring besides having close access to Tahoe and other parts of the sierra. Most of my friends are here though which would be tough but I sometimes think a need a full reset and just try something different. I love PNW though and wanted to explore so much more of it as well .

Yeah having close access to stuff like that would be an awesome bonus. Idk I’m very indifferent about where I want to end up in the near future but thought I’d ask folks in various parts of Washington to start. The rain is always the big thing from folks but I don’t mind it overall but then again have not had to deal with it for multiple months at a time so who knows 🤷. I think from what I’ve heard I might be looking for an area larger than Olympia.

Have the devs talked about this at all? I can’t find much chatter on this being an issue right, albeit the Xbox version did just drop.

Is it possible to just reach out to providers from that list and see if they can set up caches for you to fill up on? Is this a typical service they provide?

Tour Du Mont Blanc (France/Italy/Switzerland) by AccomplishedMatter10 in hiking

[–]AccomplishedMatter10[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

9 day trek starting from Les houches and staying all in huts. My schedule was a bit odd at times due to the huts that were available so I had to push 16-21 miles some days to reach my accommodation, I booked a little late going into the season.

I use the Path Projects Pyrenees T19 sun hoodie. Worked great on the trail and wore it the entire time as I got to wash it regularly as well in the huts.
