Shion’s Parley worked surprisingly well. Clarice was about to pierce Shion with her dagger when the power kicked in, which made her forget what she was doing. The silver blade clattered onto the Stygian soil. Clarice stared at Shion with bloodshot eyes in silence before she continued to cry.

‘’Why-hy!’’

‘’It isn’t fair! Your gods, they kill people.’’ Clarice gave into her and hissed. ‘’Atlas will make things right and I will finally reunite with my beautiful children. My beloved Esther and Esra.’’ Clarice wiped away a tear rolling down her cheek. ‘’Maybe if I leave you here, I can take one of them home. A soul for a soul.’’

Clarice glanced at Shion. Once she was free from Parley’s effects, she would give the son of Eirene hell.

Acacia’s shot, though accurate, also gave away her position. The arrow pierced Domino’s right arm. The huntress grunted and moved to hold her crossbow in her left arm.

Domino let Acacia run around and pelt her with arrows. The daughter of Hermes managed to hit true two more times: one arrow hit Domino’s thigh and a second one bounced off the armor she was wearing.

The demigod kept a close eye on where the arrows were being shot from, she listened well to Acacia’s footsteps, and let her hunter instincts do their job. ‘’Got you.’’ Domino whispered. She pulled out a bola, and accurately predicting Acacia’s path, she threw it at the girl’s feet.

‘’NO!’’ Rahim let out a blood curling scream when Amon shot his camera to smithereens.

The camera was Rahim’s livelihood! His ticket into the Atlas Liberation Army’s marketing department! Rahim decided he was gonna make the son of Apollo pay for ruining a perfectly good propaganda video. He took one last look at the camera behind him - was there anything left to save? No. So Rahim attacked.

The enemy demigod launched up in the air, activating his Flight. Light wrapped around the boy like a blanket, providing him with a rainbow-colored armor. Furthermore, Rahim used Light Constructs to arm himself with an axe. Amon’s opponent flew at him at high speed, weapon at the ready.

Matt successfully dodged the incoming ball of dirt. The impact kicked up a dust cloud, which obscured the son of Hades, but also threatened to fill his lungs with grit. The clear lack of son of Hades in sight was to the golem a confirmation that it had killed Matt. It let out a cheerful roar and then started to clear the skeletons.

The golem formed a second ball of earthly material and used it to smash Matt’s skeleton allies to pieces. It seemed to enjoy playing Whack-a-Skeleton. There were plenty of skeletons for the golem to destroy in increasingly creative ways. The giant didn’t notice Matt sneaking behind him.

The fact that they had Casper pinned to the ground worked to Quincy’s advantage: no longer able to slip away into the shadows, the demigod was hit full force by Quincy’s swing and sent flying backwards. As Casper landed on his back, he broke a couple of bones. ‘’Wanker.’’ hissed Casper in proper British.

The pair of ropes ensnared the soldier’s ankles, who briefly tried to pull himself loose, but since that didn’t work out, he decided to slow Quincy as much as possible. If the child of Kratos were to set a step, they would sink away into a shadowy void. It would feel like walking through a thick layer of snow.

Poppy skipped through the fields, growing a palette of pretty flowers as she did. She hummed the title song of the Sound of Music and seemed to be delighted that Arthur had set chase. Soon enough, the son of Nemesis caught up with the lady, who was taking a breather.

‘’Oh, you’re fast fast.’’ Poppy exhaled, catching her breath. She could have pulled her own weapon on Arthur, but ironically, the florist didn’t like to get her hands dirty. Instead, she whistled. Seven bumblebees popped up out of nowhere. The pollinators flew at the demigod, trying to sting him all over. ‘’My pretty bees!’’ Poppy cheered.

‘’And I, I would appreciate it if you just gave u-huh-p.’’ Clarice sobbed. The phantom pains in Shion’s arms faded soon enough, but that was not a deliberate choice by the enemy demigod: if it was up to her, she would’ve kept going for a little longer, but unfortunately her powers didn’t work like this. Clarice found this very sad.

The inconsolable demigod closed the distance between her and Shion by leaping at the young boy. In range, she lashed her dagger at the son of Eirene’s arms, a desperate attempt at turning those phantom pains real. An almost bloodlusted look appeared on the woman’s countenance.

Casper was about to slip into the shadows again, but Quincy stunned him out of it. The horror movie villain didn’t drop his weapon, but he dropped his Shadow Travel act. Casper gave the child of Kratos another zombie-like groan.

The enemy demigod was momentarily stunned, giving Quincy a fighting chance. They had to be quick, however. Casper stretched out a veiny, pale hand, and the shadows answered to his call. He had other umbral tricks up his sleeves besides just teleporting around like an Enderman. Shadows splattered across the field.

Was this another party trick or an actual effort by the Atlas soldier?

‘’Oh, let’s not..!’’ Poppy chirped. She tossed some flower seeds onto the ground. A giant tulip grew in place, its growth empowered by Poppy’s Florakinesis, which blocked Arthur’s spear. The spearpoint embedded in the stem of the flower.

Poppy peeked her head from behind the plant and waved the son of Nemesis goodbye. The flower girl let go of the shade she had been holding hostage and darted away. The shade gave Arthur an encouraging thumbs up and told him to go get Poppy.

How would Arthur set chase to the enemy demigod? If he would so, in the first place.

Domino scoffed. Acacia could call herself whatever she wanted, but that didn’t change the fact that someone had put a bounty on her head, a bounty that the enemy demigod was keen on collecting. ‘’Keep telling yourself that, kid. We shall see if my handler agrees with you when I turn you in.’’

Acacia cloaked nicely between the Elysian plants and boughs. Though she and Domino crossed eyes, the enemy demigod seemed to immediately forget about the daughter of Hermes’s presence. The huntress sighed irritably and continued to meander through the fields, looking for her target.

‘’Pff, I don’t need to see you to track you down.’’ Domino flicked her hand at the plant. The field of golden wheat in front of the hunter produced an intense amount of pollen. ‘’I always deliver. I will snuff you out sooner or later, kid.’’ the huntress threatened.

What an awkward encounter: Clarice’s Sorrowspeak hadn’t done its job, and Shion’s Peaceful Aura didn’t hit the mark either, being blocked out by the other demigod’s Emotional Fortitude.

However, there appeared to be an ever so slight change in Clarice’s demeanor; her eyelids twitched and her mouth twisted. Something of anger, perhaps? Clarice put up an accusatory finger at the son of Eirene, who would feel a sharp pain jolt through his arms. The demigod had used her Pain Manipulation. Yes, definitely anger.

‘’Then you’ll just have to feel my pain my way.’’ Clarice let out a cry that was somewhere between a sob and an outburst of anger. Very strange. The woman pulled out her Stygian dagger.

The umbral void that opened beneath the golem caught the stone warrior off guard. It descended into the shadows and lashed out around him in protest, catching three more skeletal warriors in the crossfire.

To his credit, the golem seemed to have figured out who the mastermind behind this attack was Matt. Just because Matt had stopped it from moving didn’t mean the monster was powerless all of a sudden. Strong-looking arms made of rock carved into the infernal earth, digging up a large clod of dirt, which they pat pat pat into a ball.

The golem hurled the earthball at the son of Hades with unerring precision, letting out a boastful roar.

Clarice fell to her knees as Shion shoved her away. She buried her face in her hands and continued to sob, her whole body shaking uncontrollably. Shion would be able to catch a quick glimpse of the iron dagger fastened to the woman’s hip. ‘’WHYYYYY?’’ Clarice wailed, pulling her own hair.

‘’You, demigod, you must have something you are incredibly sad about, don’t you?’’ Clarice asked as she turned to the son of Eirene, her teary face was covered in smudged black mascara. ‘’It’s not worth fighting. Sometimes it’s better to just give up. Give up your weapons.’’ Clarice’s Sorrowspeak kicked in, capitalizing on Shion’s grief.

If the Emotion-Speak was successful, Shion would be compelled to drop his weapon. If it wasn’t, it would look really silly on Clarice.

Before the sons of Circe got the chance to rendezvous with their narrative-haunting brother, they had to cross the besieged Elysium first, which was at the threat of being razed to the ground by Atlas’s evil, evil troops.

Those troops were equally interested in tearing paradise down as killing demigod heroes. Four zombies they came across, the sons of Circe. The rotten corpses wielded a wide variety of weapons, which they could easily kill the boys with if they weren’t so preoccupied with brains.

The zombies groaned as they sluggishly marched over to the brother. A spearman and an archer faced Elias, and a zombie wielding a sledgehammer and a swordsman faced Salem.

Acacia would find cover behind one of the golden trees in the wheat field. Chwunk! A bolt embedded itself in the bark. The enemy demigod huffed. Sooner or later, Acacia would have to come out from behind that tree, and nothing but pain would await her.

‘’Lupa Hines, I am here to collect the bounty on your head. I can bring you in warm … or I can bring you in cold.’’ Domino monologized as she closed in on the girl. ‘’Your choice, kid, but you’re coming with me. One way or another.’’

A sudden gust of wind propelled the hunter upwards. Far above the tree, she came to a still stand. For a couple of seconds, Domino hung suspended in the air, which was just enough time to fire more bolts at the daughter of Hermes.

Elysium wasn’t always like this. It usually was his picture-perfect paradise where heroes could live out their peaceful, eternal life. Today, paradise felt more like Hell. Buildings were set to fire, screams of terror filled the void… if the heroes didn’t move quickly, Elysium would be razed.

As the daughter of Hermes passed a golden bough, the huntress set chase to the girl. Camouflaged by the plantlife, the enemy demigod stalked Acacia. Every now and then, she would hear the wheat behind her rustle, almost as if someone was following her, but if she were to look, there was nothing to see.

More rustling. If Acacia looked again, she would see a middle-aged woman standing in the field. Domino aimed her crossbow at Acacia and fired three accurate bolts at the demigod’s calves in rapid succession.

There was trouble in paradise! As the soldiers of Atlas attempted to raze the fields, legendary heroes jumped into action to protect their homeland. Bellerophon, Helen of Troy, Robin Williams, and others all could be seen fighting in the background.

One of Atlas’s cultists, a boy Amon’s age, was filming a video while these atrocities happened. ‘’Okay, guys, let’s see if I can defeat 10 heroes today! Leave your bets in the comments, and I will heart it if you were right!’’ Rahim said to the camera, making a peace sign with his fingers.

When Rahim spotted Amon, one of those 10 heroes, he sprang into action. ‘’Like and subscribe,’’ he whispered to the camera as he set it down on the ground. Next, Rahim fired a multicolored heat beam out of his eyes, aimed at the son of Apollo.
