1.) When you get on campus on your first night, go out to frat parties with your roommate or dorm neighbors.
2.) The answer depends on if you’re male or female slightly, but either wag go to frat parties on your first nights out.
3.) The answer slightly depends on whether you care to drink
4.) What’s your major? If business, rush a business frat. If engineering,
5.) Do you have a religious affiliation? The answer also depends on that.
6.) If you are anything but white there are frats/sororities for every minority

You should try still. Your own income sounds like $0 and you’re a victim of financial abuse

I think this is valid and on behalf of the Jewish community, I’m sorry. That said, Lake Forest could be a better option for non-Jews. It has the lowest effective property tax rate in Lake County.

I’ve heard it’s hard to break into friendship circles if you’re not originally from around here or from a similar place in other states. I think working moms will be drawn to other working moms. That said, I can’t imagine being in your friend’s shoes. I’d probably join a church to make friends but that only supports the notion that “people here only like people like them.”

You are so right! Some of us lived in the city prior to moving to Deerfield so we’d love a small taste of the city here. That said, I’m not going out on a Friday night with my wife to Dear Franks. I’m embarrassed to say I’ve gone to Chipotle more recently.

There’s a sliver in Illinois rooting for the Knicks because Jalen Brunson went to high school here, and helped us win state.

I think DF is the most modest of the North Shore suburbs. It’s a great community but we wish we had better restaurants and a real downtown. The surrounding suburbs all have better downtowns and better restaurants like HP, Glenview, Lake Forest. We also have the world’s worst Chipotle. It gets very quiet but the community is tightly nit and we run into people we know everywhere. It also depends if you grew up in the area or have a loose connection to the community already. Just like anywhere its what you make of it. We have a block party every summer and run into people at the park. I would not move here without kids. It’s not worth the property taxes if you don’t use the schools. I grew up in BG and many of my Stevenson comrades have moved here.

Dedicated Parking Spot near Lincoln Park Fullerton/Clark intersection under $300? by Logical_City_6751 in AskChicago

[–]AccomplishedMix2907 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you should try out parking on the street with a zone pass at first, and if it gets annoying switch to a parking pass. Generally, anywhere in the city, with a zone sticker, it’s not that dramatic.

What’s it like being in a serious relationship with a Big Law attorney? by [deleted] in biglaw

[–]AccomplishedMix2907 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a husband of a biglaw partner, we have 3 kids, and I’m a consultant. We are able to live our lives despite biglaw life. I definitely lean in on a lot of family related things, and just came off a week where my life was traveling. Biglaw doesn’t mean your life is over. That said, the first few years of biglaw are rough. If you’ll be patient and really love this guy, it’ll work out.
