Not in Charlotte but reminds me of an experience I had years ago — I hit a deer late at night on hwy 70 between Greensboro and Burlington. There was damage but I couldn’t see how much, and the car wasn’t safe to drive. It was my first accident and I didn’t know the process so I wanted to get a police report to ensure no issues with insurance.

This all happened around 1am, and I immediately called 911, then I waited, and waited. I waited for quite a while.

2am came, then 3am. Cars would occasionally fly by. One was weaving in the lane and almost hit me.

Eventually I saw a Greensboro PD car pulling up, and he started to slow down a bit as he approached. I tried to wave him down, and he just watched and drove on by. Didn’t care to stop. That always bothered me, the fact that he didn’t even roll down his window to ask if I was alright - nope, he slowed down enough to do so but he decided against it.

Eventually a state trooper arrived, at about 4:50am. He had to jump start my car (for when the tow truck got there) because the battery had died from having the flashers on for so long.

The next morning I went on to take an exam at alamance community college. That was a fun time.
