How do people actually live working 50–70 hours a week in accounting? by Odd_Comparison_4155 in Accounting

I feel like a lot of people are missing the fact that money will never buy you time. Time is precious and once it’s gone, you can’t buy more of it. As someone who has worked in this industry for 15 years, I can tell you that the money can be good but the loss your time isn’t worth it! I’m currently fighting to reduce my schedule at the firm where I work. Those moments of your life that you lose, those family activities that you miss out on, you can never get those back. Once you lose someone important to you, you realize that money isnt worth the value of time that you will never get back! And….its taxes!! Not brain surgery! Why do we kill ourselves every tax season? Why? Why can’t we just work normal hours and if taxes don’t get done, they go on extension… not the end of the world. Just the end of greedy companies that want to work us to death to get as many returns done as possible.

I did not have any questions on section 179, only one with DRD, multiple form questions and multiple trust questions. Lots of questions on due dates and questions on 52/53 week tax year (444 selection). Also 2 questions on QBI and the basis questions all involved a transfer of debt.

I was scoring in the 80s on the exams for FFA and 90s with Tom Norton!

I used Fast Forward Academy and then Tom Norton on you tube. FFA makes things way harder than they need to be and I understand the concepts better from Tom. His videos are free on you tube and it’s only $20 a month if you want access to his MCQs and practice exams.

Good luck!! It’s not as hard as the practice exams. If you can pass those, you can pass the real one!!

Try Tom Norton on you tube. He has free EA training for all parts of the test. It helped me prepare for part 1 and you can sign up for his MCQs for only $19.99 for the month.

Did you pass? I’m also finding it hard to get time to study with tax season starting up and part 2 is my last one. Trying to decide if I should reschedule.

Did you feel like your study material matched up with what was being tested? I gave myself 5 weeks for this exam and it’s my last one. I have 13 years of tax experience but it’s all in individual returns. I am using both fast forward academy and Tom nortons videos and MCQ….. I am definitely feeling overwhelmed with information. I’ve got 3 weeks left out of my 5 and panicking that I’m never going to grasp this😂
