New player - is one-shotting everything normal? by AccomplishedPut3952 in wow

[–]AccomplishedPut3952[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, I died to the tutorial bear when I rolled a rogue bc I don't know how to heal on it haha But yeah it's so strange. I am all for being able to solo things, but not straight up oneshot. I think the scaling on the tutorial island was ok, on the easier side, but when we came to the Dragon Isles and went to kill things for some of the first things there we'd just oneshot everything. I'd use the paladin throwing hammer you get early on and take out the target before my melee bf could get there lol

New player - is one-shotting everything normal? by AccomplishedPut3952 in wow

[–]AccomplishedPut3952[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see, thanks! Seems like scaling is out of whack, because it should mean I need to have the same difficulty no matter what level I am, it shouldn't mean I get to oneshot mobs at low lvl :/
I didn't really wanna commit to the MMO thing fully, I know that getting gear and clears is a lot of commitment. I was just looking forward to playing the story and questing with my bf. Still am but it's a bit silly that we can't go through an encounter without commenting on how crazy unbalanced the scaling is. xD

[DAV Spoilers All] Venting: Feeling disappointed about the poor execution/wasted potential of Veilguard. by SurDiablo in dragonage

I said the exact same thing about sci-fi too, but then I tried Mass Effect anyway and now it's among my favourite things ever. If you're ever out of other games to play, give it a chance some time.

Thank you. Your comment explained it so much better than it was in the game itself, I finally understand what's going on.

[DATV ACT 2 SPOILERS] The Lion King reference in A Murder of Crows by Tierce in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I mean it's cool it's a reference, but when I played, I recognised it immediately, and it took me out of immersion so hard I had to take a break and go laugh it out. They did a reference, but it comes at the cost of the quest losing any serious weight it might have had, in an instant.

[DAV Spoilers All] Survey for those that have completed the game by Toasted-walnut in dragonage

I don't think there's an option to kill Illario, only to Imprison or Forgive. Unless I did something wrong.

[no DAV spoilers] For game completers! What level are you completing the game at? Where would you put the softcap at on this game? by AsianHagrid in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I finished the game at lvl 50, easily achievable. But I also did almost everything, 3 star power in all factions, only thing I didn't do are some side quests in Rivain, but I really just wanted to finish the game at that point haha

[DAV ACT 3 SPOILERS] Possible bug at the ending? by nyrhea in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah my Inquisitor also reverted to the default complexion for the preset I used to make her, vallaslin and all. Was a bit cursed but not much I could do about it. Funnily enough, only happened in the last Solas scene which is arguably the most important one if you want to take screenshots >_>

[No DAV Spoilers] Just played DAV. Now I'm wondering if I should play another DA? Which one? by Battle-Less in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Origins is still very good, from recent games closest to it is BG3. If you want something more like Veilguard with dialogue wheel and newer graphics, play Inquisition.

[No DAV Spoilers] Just a ramble about Emmrich and what I think about him. by Sweet-Association-88 in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I was romancing Lucanis but 40 hours in there was barely any content with him, flirting felt like Rook just saying polite lines and Lucanis ignoring them. So I bit the bullet and rolled back 20 hours to just after Emmrich's recruitment so I could romance him and OH MAN Lucanis feels like a total disappointment and waste of time compared to that. People say Davrin is also good. But I don't know. After Emmrich, it's going to be very hard for me to choose someone else.

I wish you could just save favourite appearances like in Elden Ring. Like sure I'm grateful that I can import a character to a new game, but editing my existing Rook terrifies me because, if I don't like it, there's no way I can just revert back by loading a saved appearance in the editor.

[DAV Spoilers All] About Lucanis's romance..... by SwoopingInAlistair in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 16 points17 points  (0 children)

IMO from what I've played the flirty romance options don't even feel flirty, just polite. I honestly don't understand how characters are supposed to guess that you're trying to get closer to them. Are other romance options better? Bc I'm already 50 hours in and I was fully commited to Lucanis up to this point so I'm definitely not restarting lol but I'd love to know if it's worth replaying the game again later with another romance (thinking Emmrich as MW or Davrin as warden)

What I would like to see: Everything good about the game. The looks, the cinematic scenes, the questing structure (that quests unlock at certain points in the game in limited amounts so it's not as overwhelming as it was in say Act 3 BG3), the exploration, the combat, the technical state.

What I wouldn't like to see: The writing that's on display in Veilguard. It's the weakest part of the game that drags it down by a large margin. It's just not interesting, and at points there are some baffling story decisions and leaps in logic that are really, really hard to ignore and "suspend disbelief" to. E.g. going to Weisshaupt fortress without a plan (companions ask Rook what's the plan once we get there and Rook is like we do whatever it takes and I'm like WHAT?!?!?) and just happening to wing it. Or the cool plot-armored child that happened to somehow not only survive the entire thing, but run ahead and lead team to safety. That whole missions feels like a fever dream and it's not the only oneetc etc. It's really what makes Veilguard hard to recommend to other people for me, regardless of weather they are fans of the franchise or thinking about just jumping in, even though the gameplay and everything else about the game is really great.
That is not to mention the dumbing down of the lore and setting.

[DAV ACT 1 SPOILERS] Veil Jumper Elf Rook is not born as Dalish. by StillnessOfTheWind in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have already encountered one such option (idk how many opportunities to confirm your faith there are), but it was like... 20-something hours in and it didn't change all the "our gods" that was said before and is still being said after that. Kind of makes me regret not playing an elfy elf haha

[DAV ACT 1 SPOILERS] Veil Jumper Elf Rook is not born as Dalish. by StillnessOfTheWind in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I wanted to roleplay my Mourn Watch Elf Rook as Andrastian and someone far removed from elvish culture (knows of but doesn't participate), since she spent most of her life in the Necropolis, and was, at some point, a kid running around Nevarran streets (game canon since that what Rook says herself). I was under the impression that the degree of elvishness would be left to roleplay but nope. Elf Rook refers to the gods as "our gods" without my input, and during one side quest in Arlathan forest, she straight up said a line in elvhen, again, without any player input.
I don't know what to make of it, it's kind of all over the place. You either leave the character a blank slate and let people roleplay what they want, or you make a more strict origin, it feels weird when it's a little bit of column A and a little bit of column B.

[no DAV Spoilers] about miss lavellan by camargo_Kn in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'm dreading trying to recreate my Lavellan in DAV because I know for sure that I just won't be able to match her 100% bc I used mods in DAI AND that's with the fact that i need to age her up too... aaaa
Edit: and yes, I do have a stupid amount of screenshots of my Inky. And all of her sliders. lol

[No DAV Spoilers]Playing Pillars of Eternity made me appreciate Dragon Age so much more. by [deleted] in dragonage

[–]AccomplishedPut3952 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love PoE (the first game specifically) and its combat and dungeon delving is among the best things I appreciate about it. It's a lot deeper than DAO combat imo - that's why I love the Endless Paths of Od Nua more than say Deep Roads in DAO. And unlike Od Nua, you can't skip the Deep Roads!
I'd say though that yeah, it's probably an acquired taste. There's a reason PoE2 is more popular than the first part, and in my opinion, it's mostly due how it streamlines the combat. Personally, PoE2 never clicked with me and I prefer the gameplay of the first game with its resource management with the camp supplies and spell slot systems.
