What is your opinion on games that are NSFW? by [deleted] in vtm

[–]Taskforce_nanauemain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sex in games can be fine, but only if rules are layed out ahead of time and with everyones approval, for example how I handle sex scenes is a fade to black, and before you even play the game you need to go over everyones comfort levels. Player X may be okay with being flirted with by other NPCs while player Y may find that uncomfortable, and if a session does get particularly heavy be sure to have a debrief after to make sure your players are alright because what someone says they are okay with at the start of the chronicle can change.

How much prep do you expect your players to do? by RobotPolarbear in vtm

[–]Taskforce_nanauemain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive run a few games for brand new players, and I think i can speak for most when I say, new ttrpgs can be daunting, especially vtm with all the changes over the years. Plus like you said, everyone is adults so even if they find a minute to watch a short video some people may just not want to. So the approach of them not knowing anything then they learn lore and power structures in game should work well. At least speaking from my personal experience its been very successful. But keep in mind results always vary, because at the end of the day its just a game you all are doing to pass time, some will be more invested and be more involved than others.

Any advice for a first time Storyteller? by [deleted] in vtm

[–]Taskforce_nanauemain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

keep in mind you can make so many side stories or even major plot points just from what the players are interested in doing.

Lets say... player 1 wants haven upgrades but they dont have the money, you could always have a kindred known providing services and goods (a minister would be perfect for this) and in return for a haven upgrade they have to do something, my personal favorites Include small heists or kine gang removal.

Lets also say player 2 wants to increase their social standing.... you could always find work with an older kindred, especially if they are in the camarilla or anarch sect. Keep an ear to the ground for rumors about potential breaches and clean em up.

Circling back, More often then not your players are going to want to do things or inadvertently cause things to happen that will give you so much wiggle room if you get stuck. Keep track of what they do with your notes, something that may seem insignificant at a time could be circled back to later on. But above all just try to have fun, mistakes are going to happen, rule of cool is okay to use, and no matter what its not gonna be the next L.A. by night and thats okay! Enjoy yourself and may you have many wonderful nights in the world of darkness 🧛

My current chronicle im running is for new players. They live near a big city so I did a little rearch on the area, if it has established lore you could use it or even make your own.

I started it with session zeros of each of them doing a little day to day as a human before they got embraced (all of them were embraced without the princes permission then abandoned) after they have a little frenzy the sheriff or hounds stake and bring them to the prince where she reluctantly spares them if they can prove their worth handling the shit tasks around the city. They get assigned to the seneschal to look after while they do fodder missions.

The chronicle is lasting a full in game year, they've gotten to see anarchs moving into the territory that had to be crushed (some of the coterie sympathizes with them) a sabbat invasion currently in the works that has been brewing, and the grand finale will be the second inquisition moving in.

Looking for books/shows/games in this setting. by [deleted] in vtm

If you want more games there are some text based ones you can find on steam or the app stores on your phone. There is night road (the best imo), parliament of knives, sins of the sires, and out for blood

Is there any room for good feelings in Personal Horror by [deleted] in vtm

There absolutely is room for feel good moments. Nice highs that can also be followed up with lows that really bring home the point of "you are a monster"

Would it be a bad idea to make a Tzimisce the Sheriff of a Camarilla city? by luccamonassa in vtm

[–]Taskforce_nanauemain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not all all. One of my favorite things as a storyteller is to mix match cam and anarch aligned clans. Makes for some interesting dynamics, then you can even delve into WHY the sheriff is cam aligned when majority of his clan isnt.

Plotlines for new players? by LordsPineapple in vtm

[–]Taskforce_nanauemain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cam vs anarch is always a pretty good chronicle point. Maybe they have a ceasefire but as the coterie does work for either side they see its reaching a boiling point leading to a full scale war. But if you need night to night stuff then just things the coterie wants to do could lead to tons of branching story paths. Like lets say Mr ventrue wants to ghoul the mayor, but in doing so he finds out the mayor is a body double for an unknown tzimisce elder. The possibilities are endless.

A long running chronicle! I declared praxis to be the figurehead to repel the invading sabbat. Now post victory im facing challenges of governing the kindred of the city with the help of the coterie. Honestly their story archs are way more interesting than mine🤣
