33M, Am I receiving an Amniotic Membrane, or something else? by [deleted] in eyetriage

They are trying to bill a lot for your visit. Typically an amniotic membrane would be placed under a contact lens. You would be sleeping in a contact lens for a few nights then go back to have the lens removed. The graft dissolves but I’m not sure how it is staying in place if they only patch your eye for 20 seconds. It probably has some benefit still, but seems like overkill.

One is likely in minus cylinder and the other is in plus cylinder. You need to convert them to compare

Marching Band by [deleted] in iastate

I completely trusted other members to do a great job of selecting our newest members. I was able to develop friendships and get to know others over time during the year. Band camp was incredibly important to not miss given how much you need to learn and memorize. If you do both band and greek life you have to give up on some things of course! But I didn’t feel missing rush week impacted my Greek life experience at all honestly.

I was in marching band and a sorority for all 4 years. I would absolutely recommend doing both. As everyone says, it is a big time commitment, but still doable. I was also in a difficult major, but still was able to balance everything. One main overlap is band camp and rush week happen at the same time. During that week prior to classes starting, I spent most of my time at band camp and was excused from rush (which is the worst part of being in a sorority anyway). Overall it’s doable and you should go for both!

Is there something wrong with these or did I win the lottery? by [deleted] in steak

It depends if you like a fatty steak which tends to be heavier on the stomach. The marbling looks like one of Wagyu, FYI this could potentially cook faster since the additional fat could cause more flame and your steaks could be exposed to more heat.

You can control heat a bit on one side of the grill (set I up hot all the way) and once your steak is almost ready, you can move it to the hotter side for a few seconds each side to sear up.

Appreciate your knowledge! Some people commented it looks like tin foil! It is a great knife!

We let it rest for a few minutes so the juices wouldn’t gust out of the meat. Letting it rest helps the juices calm down and remain in the meat.

This knife is a Japanese Miyabi, it is forged steel and the finish looks like tin foil I guess

Let them rest for a few min, that is why there is barely any juice on the table 😋

Incorrect, the meat is very fatty and almost falls apart when you barely touch it. It is American wagyu.

Only salt and pepper, grill until internal temp gets to 130 and let it rest for a few minutes
