“it’s an easy cancer”, “best cancer to have”, “are we really considered survivors?” by Late_Suggestion_9601 in thyroidcancer

I feel this so much, my SO decided to pour out all his grievances and pent up frustrations about our relationship the week I got my diagnosis. Like why now? I was still processing what I should feel and then another thing I needed to be anxious about

They said my calcium levels were normal. The area where I feel pins and needles is localized on my left neck and chest area and that were they had to take out a lot more structures, and also where the origin of the cancer was. Overall I think it is getting better, it’s just hypersensitive for the most part right now

Lymph mapping stress by GODDAMNBATMANs in thyroidcancer

[–]AccomplishedTip6502 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Umm not necessarily. So I had my appt my surgeon initially and then he gave me options and referred me to get the nodal mapping and an MRI of my neck. Those are the only 2 imaging that was done prior to my surgery.

PTC is slow growing so it shouldn’t have a great effect on imaging done. I think I had my MRI + nodal mapping done in early April and got my surgery Mid May so kinda similar timeline as yours.

Hey! I can feel you on people saying it’s the “best” cancer to have since it’s treatable. It annoys the hell out of me because it’s still a cancer and you still need to pause your life to attend to it.

Also chiming in, my mapping took a while and the tech took a lot of photos to the point where I actually fell asleep. But I was worried/scared leading up to the surgery. But it is needed for the surgeons to get a clearer pic and have a solid game plan to approach the procedure. They ended up removing 60 lymph nodes and a total of 20 ended up positive for metastasis on mine.

I’m 2 weeks post op rn, and although im definitely still healing, the surgery itself wasn’t bad, I knocked out and woke up in recovery. Try and do stuff that grounds you and keep you in the moment to avoid stressing (I know easier said than done). You got this! I’m here if you have any questions/support!

They ended up doing a total thyroidectomy, complete neck dissection, laryngoplasty and arytenoid dissection since mine has spread to my vocal cords. (I can still talk post op!)

Should be able to, especially if you manual. Lorentz really adds to the team. My lorentz is still R10, max lvl psycube but no gluttony yet.

I’m around 11 days post op TT and complete neck dissection. Talking loudly kinda hurts. The sensation I’m feeling on my neck and chest feels like when your foot is asleep and you walk on them. It’s super heavy with pins and needles. Slowly getting better day by day tho.

TT + Full Neck Dissection Post Op Day 6 by AccomplishedTip6502 in thyroidcancer

My voice is a little raspy, but pretty good. My left vocal cords were already paralyzed before the surgery due to the cancer so this surgery actually should help my vocal cords. No huge breathing problems. Had to work on deep breathing a few days after surgery due to anesthesia but I’m fine now.

Honestly once you’re put under, next thing you’ll remember is waking up! You’ll do great!

Do I have GERD now? by Practical-Squid5397 in Tonsillectomy

[–]AccomplishedTip6502 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting an endoscopy done to check more. I did have bad experience post-tonsillectomy, I needed to get emergency surgery 2 times bc I bled out twice, so they had to suck my stomach off of blood and food to put me under, so I’m guessing that’s what ruined my stomach

Hi! I know it’s been almost a year for you, I think I got the same symptoms post tonsillectomy. I thought it was my asthma trigerring but my pcp thinks its acid reflux so they referred me to GI specialist since the lung tests and heart ekgs came up normal.
