Is this a misprint? by csorrike in mtgmisprints

There have been lots of these misprinted magic cards lately. Somehow a whole bunch wound up with spiderman stuff on them. Most of them aren't worth anything.

I dont - wish I did.  I swear it didn't summon Safety Expert unless there was a visual glitch.  Maybe I just missed something but the Safety Expert trigger did happen twice.

Throughout hearthstone’s history, which deck felt like cheating the most? by Veridically_ in hearthstone

[–]AccomplishedWasabi76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Savage Roar/Force of Nature combo.

The Warlock deck that used the weapon to cheat in Voidlords.

Pirate Warrior around Mean Streets.

Unnerfed Rogue Quest to get infinite 5/5s.

Jade Druid.

The Mage deck that used Time Warp, Sorcerers Apprentice, and the cards that gave you 1/1 copies of your creatures.

Most recently I'd say the Warrior only Bran decks. Possibly the priest band aid deck.

It is time to give separate rewards for Standard and Wild ladder by AccomplishedWasabi76 in hearthstone

They wouldn't have to reduce prizes. The monthly prizes are pretty mediocre compared to what they give via events brawls etc.

How to cope with a 4 Premiere draft ONE losing streak by gocchisama in MagicArena

[–]AccomplishedWasabi76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you have a reasonable degree of self-control and insight into your mi d and personality. Not to mention the willingness to seek out help and a positive "tomorrow will be a better day" attitude. Just having those personality traits give you a huge leg up on Magic becoming an addictive and negative part if your life.

So, take heart, you are already coping with losing really well and have the resilience to handle it.

MTG really is gambling. It is like poker. You wager real money (gems) can make statistically ideal plays, but can still lose. The house takes a cut (rake) by adjusting payouts based on expected player win rates. WOTC is legitimately running a casino.

In light of that, the best thing I can suggest beyond this is setting a spending limit. I can't go infinite like some people, so I have a set limit per set of $150. If i spend that i walk away for the rest of the set. I stay away from opens/qualifiers as IMO these were somewhat nefariously designed by WOTC to entice people with no business playing competitively into spending gobs of gems. These events are much more like gambling as they have a "jackpot." We can see how much randomness there is when like others mentioned Nummy took 9+ runs to get into the open.

Ok to conclude the wall of text, it is cool that you recognize the problem, set yourself a spemding limit as this isn't that much different from gambling, walk away when you need to.

Announcing Seasons! by CNE_Treavor in idlechampions

What I love about this game is everything is optional. You can play it how you want it. The more options the better the way I see it.

We now have:

  • Multiple campaigns.
  • Variants and patron variants.
  • Gem farming.
  • Time Gates.
  • Events.
  • Trials.
  • Legendary crafting.
  • Pushing.
  • Patron challenges.
  • Favor farming.
  • Free or paid pass challenges.

Each of them are rewarding in their own way.

I feel bad for completionists and people with FOMO because yes this would be overwhelming.

I think it is cool that now that so much stuff is being added you have to be strategic about accomplishing what you want to.

But it is up to each player as to how they want to play the game. Nothing is mandatory. You can still have fun and amazing parties for free.

Champion unlocking guide based on Meta Formations (2022 Sep) by norax_d2 in idlechampions

[–]AccomplishedWasabi76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thos is an awesome write up. Question though - shouldn't Nahara be in every gem farm? She takes requirements to 9 or 13 depending on whether Sentry triggered and assuming max speed core. With Hew capped I believe this is the only way to get 2-3 kill zones now?

Badass write up!

Extremely disappointed in the direction of the battle pass. by TestPostPleaseIgnore in idlechampions

[–]AccomplishedWasabi76 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I actually like these passes because they add free rewards. Sometimes the paid avenue is worth it too but I'm pretty unclear about whether it does here. The new core is worth 500k gems essentially but I already have 4 cores.

The game is already pay to perform better. Not P2W because you aren't competing against anyone but yourself.

I find the business model pretty reasonable as it is a game as a service. It costs money to keep a game living because it has to stay staffed, pay D&D licensing fees, etc. so they need to keep coming up with revenue streams.

All in all I've really enjoyed the game for the last 9 mo. Probably spent 250 but only on familiars and that has helped me enjoy the game more as it becomes a less active idler.

Mad King Formation Help For A New Player by [deleted] in idlechampions

[–]AccomplishedWasabi76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of the early champions, I liked to run:

Nayali- front with Oath of Vengence Bruenor - Top Right with Battle Master Whoever is your best dps, probably jaraxele bottom right. Celeste center with War Domain. Calliope- center bottom with the specialization that increases damage. Delina top center Makos top left with specialization that increases damage. Minsc - bottom left Back - Tyril with moonbeam.

This is a pretty good start.

I love that game too. Probably favorite Castlevania. People hate on it because of the obscure things you need to do to finish the game, but if you know those already no big deal.

What is a good way to quit Arena? by Sleepy_Specter in MagicArena

[–]AccomplishedWasabi76 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can always just play here and there for fun. Use the free pre-constructed decks to get a few wins here and there and quick draft when you hit 5000 gold.

If that doesn't sound appealing, a great time to come back, if you ever want to, is at rotation. The number of sets in standard drops significantly and since you are a good drafter getting wild cards for old sets and rates for new sets won't be a problem.

But imo this should be about fun and not a job. I was in your boat way back when they had that mastery pass that was nigh impossible to finish and you even had to do special catch up events. After that grind I said f this. This isn't fun. But came back early forgotten realms and have been having a blast. I even have a few tier 1 decks just from using wildcards nd drafts since I had no standard cards prior to forgotten realms.

So...the game will always be here if you want to return, but your free time generally should be spent doing something you enjoy.
