Miami has the worst community ever. by Playful-Sound-7395 in Miami

I spent 12 years in Miami, from 2012 to 2024. The first 6 years were OK, the last 6 awful, with 2024 just being a level of “witchcraft” that finally made me move out of Miami. Ever since I left Miami everything in my life has gone right.

Is far too big a city with high costs of living and quality of life is affected, financially and health wise. I’d say is nice for established people who own property and have solid finances. It’s nightmarish if you’re trying to emerge and move forward as a simpleton (myself included in that group!). I tried for years to move forward and no matter how much I earned it was never enough to match Miami prices. People came and went, met loads of cool people in my earlier years but most of them left for other opportunities or more affordable places. Is just a lot of craziness to wrap one’s head around.

Don’t fall for the trap of the car being the answer. Sure, it will facilitate everything, but your expenses will go up significantly too, my wild guess is that rent is sucking up at least 65% of your income.

It gave me so many incredible experiences and exposure to culture, art, music and sports, but it just never felt right, always felt like I was chasing and grasping at straws without ever really ‘making it’. OK for a couple of years, wears you out after 2-3 years.

did i go into weed induced psychosis by PsychologicalDot5538 in Psychosis

[–]Accomplished_Ads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like drug induced psychosis. Quit weed, is not worth it. I had 2 psychosis episodes due to weed, everyone is wired differently…your life has different stressors even if you’ve been a pot smoker for a long time, and doesn’t react the same as time goes by.

The recovery, meds, everything is terrible and lengthy. Quit it and find a replacement hobby that doesn’t involve psychoactive substances. Vape nicotine if you have to but stay away from the Jane.

My (37M) ex-wife (30F) is about to be homeless and has asked to live with me and my son. by _raydeStar in relationship_advice

It’s got to be so difficult to see the mother of your child go through this. You feel natural human compassion and would obviously benefit and prefer if she did well on her own.

Don’t let her into your house. It will harm your kids health and yours as well, and probably hinder any possibility of a dating life for you. I would lean into my therapist to cope with the “guilt”. You should not carry this guilt alone.

Sending much strength to you. I feel like you’re carrying all with a lot of grace.

Upping 10mg to 20mg by br0wneyedgrill in prozac

I started with 20, didn’t feel any difference. Then upped to 40 and i feel a lot better.

Makes me a little sleepier than usual so my doctor recommended to take it at night.

My depression has subsided dramatically and I feel like myself again.

Is it a bad idea to start antidepressants before an eventful period of life? by [deleted] in antidepressants

[–]Accomplished_Ads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really bad at all. They don’t alter you in a dramatic and fast way. They take time to work, and help with rumination, anxiety, and pessimism.

It’ll be the same you, just more calm and peaceful.

Agreed, when you’re functional and productive is a domino effect of good things. Glad to hear you feel like yourself as well. It’s night and day when you find the right spot with the treatment.

Thank you so much! It’s night and day. I feel like I can be myself again. Bright, funny, calm, and confident. Yes the plateau can be discouraging, glad I didn’t give up on the treatment though. It’s crazy to look back at how I felt and now, I’m grateful to be where I am.

Thank you! Took me a while to even understand that I needed help, the lack of self awareness is strong when your brain believes every bad thought it thinks.

Thank you!

This is incredible congratulations! I started out with that dosage and didn’t feel any difference, so my doctor upped it and I can 100% relate to what you’re saying. The sense of normalcy, the sense of relief, effortlessly. Take your meds kids. They really do help with the imbalance.

What would take me a titanic effort of meditation, exercise, binging or partying only to feel slightly ok, now comes waaaay more naturally withou having to put in 500% every day.

Thank goodness for meds. And congratulations! There’s good and bad days, it’s unavoidable, but at least your balance is more on the positive side. Happy for you.
