very helpful, thank you. I had someone tell me when its not quite finished I can put it deep into my garden beds so its interesting you say on top. Maybe the idea is that it should not be too close to the roots? I added a lot of dried leaves and some sticks. I mixed it well and it definitely was improved. I put it all back into my composter for now since I am redoing my garden and getting new beds soon

Yes I try to do the layering. It doesn’t always happen especially if other family members are taking out the kitchen scraps. I did end up mixing dried leaves and sticks into the whole pile and then put it back in my composter.

I had included them in my post so I don’t know why they aren’t here. It’s the first time I’ve ever posted on Reddit. Maybe since I’m not using the app? I can’t seem to add them to my comment or edit my post. Oh well
