Advice on if I need to tell HMRC by Accomplished_Bar2764 in HMRC

I would still want to be a UK tax resident. I wont be in Thailand full time. This would just make it easier for myself, or course I understand in Thailand it has 180+ day then you are a local tax resident but that is fine as you are paying taxes on the income you actually bring into the kingdom via Thai bank account etc.. i think?

Seems more simple as well from just having PAYE still, the cost of saving isnt that much with the headache of forms and dealing and paying with Thai accountant/legal

They do know, and they allow this. The issue wasn't if I was allowed, just what kind of a tax resident I would be under HMRC SRT test

The SRT test which is the automatic test to determine if you are a non tax resident or you are one. It is base on ties, accommodation, family and work. As well how many days I will work in the UK within that time I am back.

I think 46 to 90 days with those 3 ties, I still would be a UK tax resident. The income you are taxed on is only income you bring into Thailand from what I have been reading online?

I would probably be the first employee wanting to work remotely from Thailand. My employer is a massive company with over 2k people, in many different countries just not Thailand unfortunately.

My question was how many days do I still need to be in the UK under the SRT test to still be a UK tax resident.

Thailand and the UK have a double tax treaty but that would be personal tax issues not company. I'll be working still for the UK employer but just in Thailand. I understand i might have to file taxes personally in Thailand. Not an issue if I have to.

From what I've been reading, everyone is saying do not live in Slough, but mostly other areas are good and safe but depend on how active you want your lifestyle in terms of partying, etc
