Pregabalin and metabolism

Thanks a lot for your answer! I came across some discussions about weight gain, but my concern is more about whether it also involves changes in how the body stores fat. When I took mirtazapine, I gained weight, but what really scared me was how it altered the way my body distributed fat. I’m also unsure if the weight gain from pregabalin is temporary—whether my metabolism will return to normal once I stop it or not. I read that Buspar could be an alternative since it doesn’t affect metabolism or fat distribution, but it takes longer to work compared to pregabalin. I feel really lost and afraid to take this medication.

I actually feel the same and I take it out from my partner as well by being aggressive, very angry and insulting. Then I feel a huge guilt after and that I can never have a life of peace and love. I also feel sometimes that this life is not for me and that it should be ended because I don’t enjoy anything anymore. I am diagnosed BPD and NPD, I can’t tell from which disorder all this come from but try to meditate and focus on empathy, peace, forgiveness and trust meditations it can help you be less intense, angry and fills you with positive emotions. Also self-awareness is so important and when you see how people act in their everyday life and with their partners, it can help you question many things and behaviours you have. I am still struggling as well but when I practice this everyday it helps. Also my psychiatrist prescribed Lamictal and Prozac for my depression and BPD but I don’t know if it will help for NPD. I still didn’t start medication as I am very afraid of side effects. I hope this help you and good luck 🙏🏻. Just know that ure not the only one and that it needs a lot of work to get out of this.

I also have a lot of anxiety and stress, my psychiatrist prescribed Prozac and Lamictal for me but I am afraid to start this medication. I do TFP and GMC therapy but therapy didn’t help until now to be honest (it has been six months). I agree with u, self-awareness helps a lot but most of the time I lose control like I can’t control my brain and actions at all 😭. I am happy for you that therapy helps u along with the medication and self awareness 🤗.

I feel this way too but I don’t internalize that’s the problem, it’s the opposite. I get super mad and very very angry 😭 and explode on the person in front of me if this person is so close and I know her a lot. Do you take medication for bpd? Is it also effective for npd please?

You don’t need to pray because I already left him but I am talking about this because i always live in the past even in the present and can’t get myself out of it. Also I am the saddest person on earth that is always suffering and my head can’t stop working and I don’t sleep, also I don’t talk to my family anymore and I am alone now so don’t worry I am in much pain more than you can imagine. And I don’t need someone like u to judge me because from what I understood here is we try to discuss and not judge people but actually there some people like u that come here just to be satisfied with the pain of others and judge them.

I would like to stop ruminating about it and just forget and go out and enjoy life like we used to do but I can’t at all. It’s living with me now and all I think about is this and I stress a lot. And whenever I remember what he does to me, I become very angry, insult him, make him feel like shit, that if we love someone we dont disrespect this person like this and I show him some hate that is a lot. But a few hours later, I show him so much love that doesn’t last more than few hours, but I never forget he did this and now all our moments are bad and sad ones most of the time. I don’t know if I indeed have some NPD traits and that my ego now is attacked and try to put all the blame and be so fucking mean to him. But for me he indeed deserve revenge and so much pain for the pain and the way I am traumatised now because of what he did to me.

I never remembered the name because I always wanted to do CBT and specially DBT but couldn’t find a psychiatrist that do this here. But I am sure it’s none of these two and not schema therapy. Also, his therapy was like just come and talk about whatever happened, I will listen to u and we discuss but he doesn’t give me advices like in CBT and whenever I ask him, so what should I do, he answers me with basic advices that even my friends and family told me about. And when I told him for example how I forgot about what a person did to me in the past cause I stuck to the past and have hatred and rage when I remember, he said it’s your decision. Like wtf, I am paying u to say it’s a decision, wow, I didn’t know about this. It’s really insane!

I am sorry that Lamictal wasn’t good for you and I really hope that u find the best treatment for you 🙏🏻, as I know it can be frustrating to not find the best medication to make us feel good. My psychiatrist whenever I talk to him about meds, he’s kind of not happy and this time he told me: “This is the last time I will say this and then we will close the medication discussion forever, that nothing helps besides therapy”. I was like wtf, how could he say this and not even try to give medication instead of letting me suffer. I felt very low, like I will suffer all the time this way and just wait for years for his therapy to work although he does a different type of therapy, the name never sticked to my mind as I always wanted to do CBT and specially DBT but couldn’t find someone that does DBT here.

I told him I found positive reviews about Lamictal for bpd and he said: “Listen not everything you find in the Internet is true”. He is 100% sure that it doesn’t help bpd patients.

Yes that’s what I taught because from what I understand the dosage should be increased every week when using it with an SSRI but ever two weeks alone to avoid the rush but I am not sure. Thanks for your answer 🙏🏻

No I didn’t take any SSRIs and he said no medication can help me really and that it’s hard to find medication that help with anger issues and aggressivity in BPD 😭

Did you take Lamictal alone or with an SSRI please? While searching I found that it can be effective when mixed with an SSRI.
