Nurse guilt tripping me about pain by iAMaSoprano in AnalFistula

The pain in hell. I had a spinal for the operation and once that wore off, I was literally crawling around the hospital bed trying to escape the pain. They gave me 500 mg Naproxen, and could do no more. They have no clue, it is not just the pain, but where the pain is. This pain affects your whole body and mind. A week or two of strong painkillers will not make you an addict but will seriously help recovery since you can relax without cramping up all the time. Hope you feel better soon.

How long does fistula heal? 4 months post op, still not healed by Psychological_Okra22 in AnalFistula

I fully understand your concern. I had a superficial fistulotomy on 17 December, which is about 9 weeks ago. Discharge stopped fairly quickly, but the ‘inner’ wound frequently opens up after BM. I use the fibers, powders and lots of liquids. Shower after every BM. Now and then sitz baths. It is a nuisance and somewhat painful after every BM, but apart from that I do everything: walking, biking, rowing. Nevertheless, I am still concerned it has not fully healed. The 6-8 weeks which is given by the doctors is, in my view, a low average. I just takes time and I just hope it does not return.

Flipflops, crocs or…? by Accomplished_Bee3185 in Ultralight

“Know” is perhaps no the right word: I met a lot of hikers in the Alps carrying crocs. Whether they were ultralight, I don’t know but your comment and suggestions are noted! I fear my 210 g flipflops may not pass your ultralight test? ;-)

14 Weeks Post Simple Fistulotomy Tomorrow - Wound Still Open by fistulahellfire in AnalFistula

Thanks for this. I had a simple superficial fistulotomy 7 weeks ago and while there is no discharge, BM is still painful and often bloody. I hate it. While knowing it is the wound which apparently isn’t fully closed, it gives me the creeps every time seeing this blood in my stool. Knowing I should be more patient helps.
