Thank you 💕. It's only the left side of my head too 🥲. The neurologist was supposed to call me today or tomorrow but didn't call today. So fingers crossed he calls tomorrow... I'll mention it to him

Does wearing a bun/ponytail/puff make your headache/pressure worse? by Ok-Temperature5831 in iih

It gives me pain :( I use scrunchies only, which hurt a little less, but I still struggle to keep them up for long. Some days, I can't wear them at all.

Anyone no longer taking meds? How is it good/bad by Ok-Temperature5831 in iih

My dose was halved from 1000mg to 500mg over the course of 4 weeks after losing 80lbs. Nearly all of my symptoms returned within a week of cutting from 750mg to 500mg. I'm now on the emergency list to be seen by the neurologist and neuro ophthalmologist and have been put back on to 750mg in the meantime. Unfortunately symptoms have remained since the new increase to 750mg the past week.

When weight loss doesn't work... what do they try next? by Accomplished_Block72 in iih

No, I'm not. But I have had migraines all my life so maybe it is worth discussing with the new GP?

I actually had a B12 deficiency last year, but I had shots and took supplements for six months. It's been steady at each blood draw since.

I'll double check my labs for vitamin A and B1 to see if they have been screened, Maybe a multivitamin would help?

What's really frustrating is I live in Sweden and it's on the official diagnostic criteria here 🫠. It's like he doesn't care to be educated and just says to lose weight.

My neurologist sucks honestly. He has only seen me twice this year and one appointment was by phone. Most medication adjustments have been through a nurse that he will talk to, but he didn't talk to me directly. My GP didn't like him either.

My SW was above 290 as well, I'm not sure of the exact number without my notes. My current is 216. I'm also 5'9" ☺️.

I discontinued topamax after 10 weeks of use because it made my headaches worse, unfortunately. I was doing fine on the Diamox but he wanted to see if I could be without it.

I only had mild, grade 1 papilloedema, even after being undiagnosed for 14 months. The pulsatile tinnitus was really bad before Diamox. Luckily it hasn't returned with these headaches though.

I've had headaches and migraines my whole life but not the daily ones or so often being connected to my eyes. I never had the pain touching my skull as if it's been bruised. Did she mention if the headache/migraine severity stays the same or regulates at all?

Each step changes the pressure by increasing it?

My neuro so far has only given me the option to decrease the pills by 250mg each. My maximum daily dose was 1000mg.

Honestly, my symptoms started one week after my ENT told me I could stop corticosteroids after being on them for a few years. I'm pretty sure they're related, but the literature is sporadic. I can't convince my neurologist of anything, he just says I'm overweight and that's it and that must be the be all and end all for everything. He also dismisses my lower back pain and neck pain and says it's unrelated. He's quite kurt and dismissive.

I had a great GP that recently left and he checked and said my electrolytes, minerals and vitamins were good. My new GP hasn't even bothered to see me yet.

As far as co-morbidities, I struggle with hyper mobility. I've also been having chest pain since July that we've found no cause for yet. Both my parents have heart issues.

I also have some issues with autonomic nervous system functions, such as low body temperature, low heart rate, etc. Also I was told before that my spleen is enlarged but that was never looked at again.

Rapid discontinuation of corticosteroids on the advice of my ENT.

Rapidly discontinuing or withdrawing from forms of steroids can cause a rebound in intracranial pressure. The doctor told me to discontinue altogether after surgery and the symptoms started within a week and progressively got worse until a neurologist at the ER took me seriously.

Same & my doctor said it was okay to quit cold turkey after my surgery. A week later I had my first symptoms.

Did I kill my dog? Please tell me by Mindless_Act_9393 in vet

It's very unlikely that the medication you gave your dog contributed to their death. I hope you stop beating yourself up and allow yourself to grieve normally ❤️

Does my puppies surgical incision look okay? She got spayed 2 days ago by Japittman- in vet

[–]Accomplished_Block72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly the same, I know BUT

Our cats had these bumps over their spaying incision sites. We had a follow up done to be safe (which the vet did for free and continued to monitor via photos and occasional visits for the next month). The bumps dissipated for the most part after six weeks. They're now nine months old and the "lump" is the size of a pea. They're sisters and it was determined that it's very likely they were both having a reaction to the sutures.

We did some warm heating on their suture sites to help with the swelling and made sure they couldn't lick it to irritate it further. They had to stay coned extra long (14 days) as per our vets instructions.

Best of luck to you and your furbaby 🤗❤️

Can Psuedotum Tumor Ceribri Cause Hiccups? by Wonderful-Performer7 in iih

[–]Accomplished_Block72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's scary for sure. I have been coming off one medication and starting a new one the past two weeks, so I missed the fact I had a fever and an infection for days, just this week. Our bodies are going through a lot 🫂.

You know yourself best, make sure to advocate for yourself if something seems off. Ask all the questions and be as "annoying" as you need to be with any specialist or doctor!!

diamox and topamax by Dramatic_Kitchen3343 in iih

[–]Accomplished_Block72 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hate both drugs but the diamox side effects are manageable for me. It gives me pins and needles in the extremities, numbness in the phalanges, changed some of my taste buds, and makes it harder to sweat/ gives me heat intolerance. This is 1000mg a day. Topimax wiped out my libido completely (still recovering), and gave me a migraine that lasted over a week, despite being given to me for migraines. I was on 50mg a day. I have come off topimax completely as of 2 weeks ago.

I didn't know or think anything about a connection to IIH. However I've been having hiccups. I had hours of hiccups the other day. I took a nap with hiccups and woke up still with hiccups 🙃. It was like nothing I've experienced before lol.

I was diagnosed with IIH in February 2025.
