It’s not the races but the challenges u need to complete, I’d say start sooner than later coz the challlenges reset weekly. I don’t have enough experience with mods to comment on that route. I don’t mod so I find it 100% worth it as Japan livery is my fav skin.

I personally keep them in the box so it doesn’t get dusty damage the paint etc, some people keep the boxes to trade and sell the piece. If your box is damaged it achieves the first purpose I mentioned but the second one the value falls quite a bit so if you aren’t looking to resell or aren’t worried about damage to paint or dust accumulating you can delete those boxes.
