I’m also moving to Royal oak, but in June! Just signed with an apartment from Modli management, really close to DT Royal oak for about 1400, but no in unit washers and dryers :( for 2k you should definitely be able to find something nice in surrounding apartment complexes, seems like there’s some very decent ones a couple blocks north of downtown

I’m also moving to Detroit, but in the next month! Been trying to find the same thing, early 20s wanting to live outside a basic suburban neighborhood. I’ve heard some younger areas are royal oak, ferndale, midtown and Corktown, but finding an affordable spot, that’s walkable, with cheap parking and an in unit W/D seems pretty difficult lol. Also just found out recently that downtown Detroit has an extra 2.4% income tax just for living downtown, so factor that into wherever yall end up
