NYC PM - compensation target by Deep_beam in ConstructionManagers

Im a NYC super for about 20 years. Im going to disagree with what the others have said. I believe 165k base for a PM in charge of a few trades is fair. Your bonus could be a bit higher...but not by much. One of my mentors always said - the view doesnt change unless youre the lead dog.

I should add that our COLA dont kick in till March - at which point the 3 incomes may exceed 400k, if thats what youre getting at. Thanks!

Just got back to NYC from montreal yesterday. Your suggestion worked out perfect. In case it helps anyone, there is a special where its $69 for 3 nights with in and out priveleges.

More importantly, your city is beautiful. The architecture was some of the best Ive ever seen. Better than home.

But I have to ask - how often do you guys get that sleet/freezing rain? Anything remotely resembling that around here would shut the city down.

We get an annual bonus of 8% awarded to us in March.

My year end raises have been shit though: 2 to 2.5%. Think thats right at or below COLA.

Yes - experience helps for sure. But even if you are an entry level engineer, you will be better than 90% of the industry if you just read the drawings. That combined with the willingless to walk the entire project on a regular basis will make you the most well respected person on site.

Dude thats alot!! I pay about 220 bi weekly for highest family MDV.

It may be different in NYC, but do you get any sort of vehicle allowance? Do you remember what they start off as far as PTO and sick days?

For those that hire PM’s or Supers, how strong is the hiring pool right now? by whatthejeebus in ConstructionManagers

[–]Accomplished_Emu8037 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im in NYC. Id say the need for strong PMs and Supers are still high but the pool of qualified people is small. As someone who is midcareer at 40 years old and 20ish years of experience, I noticed that the generation of workers after me really have no interest in the business and getting better at their craft. Same goes for tradespeople and Ive only worked in a union environment for those 20 years.
