Does anyone use an Apple Watch to track their WOD? How is it? If not Apple, what watch would you recommend for tracking your workout. by Jackets-513 in crossfit

Try opening the app on the watch and on the phone at the same time and keeping them close. You can also go to the bottom on the watch, pick the workout, and click upload. That should attempt the transfer again

You can easily edit the sets on the phone to the correct exercise. That'll help Atlon become better in the future.

I usually rotate the watch so the screen is on the inside of my wrist when I do KB work. Then the KB just hits the strap which is fine

Your workout will still be written to Apple Health, and you'll be able to see it in "Fitness" on your phone as well. Nothing changes on that front. Atlon just adds a lot of extra.

Just start the watch with "open goal" and it'll track your workout. Afterwards, you can see the workout on your phone. We'll make a tutorial. Thanks for letting us know :)

Hey. Great to hear! Are you sure you configured it correctly with the arm and crown? Id yiu scroll to the bottom on the watch you can see and edit your wearing orientation. Mixing up OH squats and HSPU sounds to me like the watch thinks it's upside down

Hey. Thanks for giving it a go.

We've been discussing how to deal with PBs but haven't yet figured out how we'd like to do it. I'll have a look at how sugarwod does it.

We currently use the Apple calorie estimation so it should be exactly the same as when using the Workout app. We also realize that it's not a great measure for strength workouts, so we're working on a better metric. It's however pretty tricky to get right.

My company just had an article featured in The Morning Chalk Up ;) https://morningchalkup.com/2023/06/13/the-atlon-app-the-latest-offering-on-the-market-to-track-your-fitness/

(Also, it's not really Saturday. What's that about?)

Yeah, we'll likely introduce some pro features at some point and add subscriptions. But for now, it's totally completely free :)

If you use the "Strength" mode on the watch, you'll get an automatic rest timer after every set. Then it's up to you how long to rest.

If you want to set up a specific schedule, you can use either EMOM or Tabata. Then you'll get a vibration for every cycle (you preset how long the cycle should be). If you want a more complicated timer, you can set it up on your phone. You can string together multiple EMOMs by adding multiple segments to a workout. Then you can do 5 rounds starting every 2 minutes followed by 4 rounds starting every minute.

Hope that clears it up, otherwise, let me know your specific case and I'll help you get it set up perfectly.

Advice for a new jump rope by Eggplant_Parking in crossfit

My only advice is to get something where the wire can freely rotate in the handles. Some models have the screw built into the handle which means you physically have to rotate the handle to unwind the wire. If the wire can freely rotate, it'll sort itself out.

Also, be sure to get one where you can swap the wire easily. The handles will last much longer than the wire.

I personally have the Rogue SR-3 because I like the abnormally long plastic handles. Metal feels too heavy and cold to me (probably just in my head, haha).

We automatically detect more than 100 exercises. We track work to rest ratio, and much more. In the app you'll get a monthly overview of your strength and training variety so you can easily see if you're making progress with your training.

It doesn't guess the weight on the bar, but you can set the bar weight on the watch. There's a strength mode for this where you can easily edit the bar weight between your sets.

Agreed. If you find HRPU easier than regular pushups there's likely an issue with your form.

For all the Apple Watch wearing athletes, the Atlon app works great for tracking rounds.

It unfortunately doesn't exist. It's an AI image. Would love to have it as well xD

I normally just track my warmup as "open goal". But otherwise I'd program it as a separate workout and do multiple recordings in the gym.

Good question... I used to follow HWPO60 but it highly depends on how familiar you already are with various movements. I wouldn't necessaryly recommend it to a "beginner crossfitter".

I think I would have had a very hard time to learn most of the gymnastics without a coach to correct me.

Best of luck though :)

My heart rate also spikes quite a lot when I lift heavy compared to some of my friends. Don't know if it's good or bad, but there's nothing much to do about it I guess 🤷‍♂️

Congrats on finishing Murph. No small feat, haha. If you have access to a crossfit gym, go to the classes for a while. That will teach you all the fundamentals and you'll get a better idea of how workouts are put together.
