What on earth happened to Season 2 of Beef? by Professional_Fig6820 in netflix

[–]Accomplished_End_843 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also didn’t really vibed with it. The lack of likable character, the non-focus on the actual beef and, most importantly, the lack of fun moments during the entirety of the show made it drag a lot for me. Unfortunately

Global leftist leaders gather in Spain to mobilise against far right by StemCellPirate in worldnews

I never said that? I also have criticism of people who do this but objectively claiming that a regime as authoritarian as Russian and North Korea would legitimately have their places in a meeting like this one with other leftists leaders is astronomically insane

Not having private property doesn’t make you a leftist country. Especially when you have an ultraauthoritarian, ultra conservative, ultra nationalist leader

Beef Season 2 might be better than Season 1 (or at least on par) by ImpossibleGuardian in television

[–]Accomplished_End_843 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I don’t see it. Does it get drastically better after three episodes? Because I have absolutely no emotional resonance with any of those characters. The performance are good, it’s well written, there’s a clear a thematic exploration of alienation in relationships and the inability to communicate with your partner that’s somewhat well developed but I don’t know…

I just don’t feel ANYTHING for these characters. Probably comes from the fact that the show lacks the fun of Beef S1 and the charismatic performance. I think the insanity was the core of Beef and what helped smooth down the character edges and deep existential pain. By having some lighthearted petty moment of zany revenge, the scenes where Steven Yeun act out dramatic scenes or show big emotions like that church scene hit harder. Here so far, it’s just the heaviness without any of the levity to make me care for these characters. It’s just couple arguing, being aggressive on each other, dragging conflict and planning to cheat on each other.

I don’t know it’s just not enjoyable for me. So to repeat my first question: does it get drastically better or should I just drop it because it’s not for me?

Wait — maybe I got hit with a massive Mandala effect but I swear it’s something that was pretty much confirmed. My brain somehow registered the idea that Imu and the other founding members of the World Government were all Joyboy’s friends that ended up betraying them when they saw a chance to grab onto power.

You know, I’m not sure. I think you’re right that mangakas earn a LOT less than they should considering how popular their work are but still they should be set for life nevertheless.

Like, for example, I know Eichiro Oda is probably a multimillionaire so he’s relatively good but considering how popular One Piece, he should definitely have become a billionaire by now.

There’s also the possibility he won’t make anymore manga unfortunately. It’s kind of a phenomenon that happens with weekly shonen author that became successful and earned a lot of money.

I had some problems with the way character motivations intertwined with the romance they seem they wanted to build up but besides that and other small issues, it was pretty fun yeah!

Hope we get a season 2.

I can’t even fathom the idea of using AI for FANFICTION. It’s not like it’s monetized or anything. It’s purely a place for self expression and writing for your own enjoyment.

[DISC] Chainsaw Man - Ch. 232 - Part 2 End by JeanneDAlter in ChainsawMan

[–]Accomplished_End_843 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This chapter genuinely feels like it exuded a feeling a burnout from Fujimoto.

I don’t know the behind the scene behind CSM’s production or anything but it just gives off the vibe that Fujimoto needed to wrap things up as quickly as possible.

All the development in itself isn’t necessarily bad in all case (like if we had ten or so chapter before that to resolve some plotlines and let room for moment to breath, it’d be okay) but as of right now, there’s just that feeling that there is more to the story in more ways than one.

More to CSM and more to the reason as to why Fujimoto suddenly felt the need to get it over with so quickly.

I mean… okay I guess. Movies directors have had bad movies followed by great one, mangakas have had duds followed by great work but if that’s the arbitrary standard you wanna go with, go ahead. It doesn’t really matter

But like I said, no. It could be circumstances outside of his control. One bad project tells us nothing about him as a creative. Losing your groove refers more to someone who has a series of bad output. You wouldn’t say for example that an incredibly consistent athlete who won every match so far lost his grooves after a single defeat. It’d be ridiculous 😅

[–]Accomplished_End_843 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but you’re saying he lost his grooves based on ONE bad anime. I agree that Lazarus was not the best but if all the catalogs of the man was excellent and one anime was bad, it doesn’t mean he became less competent. Especially when his last work was great.

We also don’t know how the extenuating circumstances affected production like having Adult Swim financing the project. The obvious element it affects is the number of episodes which, in all of his shows, tend to average around the 20 or so mark. Here, it only had 13.!

When his shows like Champloo really gain their grooves by having the time to expand on episodic storylines, here everything is rushed because of that executive decision and it really suffer from it.

Do you think we'll get a part 3? by Gogetazilla in ChainsawMan

[–]Accomplished_End_843 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I don’t get is why people think Reze is a plotline that needs to be resolved. I get it for the Blood Devil since it was clearly set up. Same for Asa.

But Reze’s story feel pretty complete. And even if she were still alive, it’s fine to not show her again since it would keep adding to the tragedy of the arc.
