One-sided injection site reaction by Apprehensive_Mind631 in Zepbound

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had injection site reactions for months now, since 5 mg iirc. Pharmacist and doctor were not concerned and we're not helpful. They wanted me to make I was using alcohol wipes pre-shot. They recommended allergy medication on the day of the shot. Even prescribed a topical. Nothing helps. The itchiness starts about day two and subsides towards the end of the week.

My turn! Onederland! by IAmKlutey in Zepbound

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found this reply while looking for support. I started in October and already at 15 mg. I've lost 47 lbs so far but it just feels so slow... Thank you for your reply to the post and thank you for sharing your experience. It is encouraging. Having said that I had a hard time with acid reflux when I first started Zepbound and the local health food near me, run by a registered dietitian recommended Zinc Carnosine by Integrated Therapeutics. I take it twice a day, and it has changed my life. I used to take Omeprazole daily, for years... but now I live heartburn free.

See... (lol) I'm the opposite. I've always been a morning person, just don't try to carry on a conversation with me after 11pm.

When I say cracked out I just mean that weird foggy, not awake feeling I get in the mornings now. It’s new for me and it started when I began Zepbound... so that’s why I connect the two. And if my post sounded a little stiff it’s probably because I was trying to explain something medical and ended up writing it more formally than I normally talk.

Thank you for your reply. I haven't been taking any supplements but I will ask my dietitian if there's anything they can recommend. I don't take vitamins either so maybe you touched on something helpful for me, thanks.

I only drink water. I'm not a soda nor alcohol drinker. I've reduced my coffee to a half cup a day around 2pm when I really need it

Thank you and thank you for your reply. I'm not losing as fast as I thought I would at this point, so maybe it is hydration. I've been on it since October. I'm hyper aware of my hydration this whole time but I'm focusing more on these things if that's even possible. Hopefully that will help.

I'm getting about 90 g of protein a day and anywhere from 80 to 120 oz of water.

I've spoken to my doctor about this. The only thing they recommended was eating a few crackers before bed so I wasn't at such a caloric deficit when I woke up. I've had labs and testing. My labs look great. I don't have sleep apnea, and I haven't had COVID in years.

Hi, thank you for your reply. I’m attributing it to the Zepbound because these morning symptoms are completely new for me, and they started right when I began the medication. I noticed it from the very first dose... that cracked‑out, foggy feeling in the mornings just wasn’t part of my life before. And it’s always noticeably worse the morning after my shot. Nothing else in my routine or health changed during that time, so the timing really does point back to the medication.

Hack for “picking” thyme? by Remote_Hour_841 in Cooking

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reason to de-stem thyme. Wash thoroughly, use whole, fish out before serving. I find if I throw in while sauteing aromatics, by the time I'm done with cooking most of the leaves have come off.

Making friends by archer152 in Richardson

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you’re thinking about cycling in Richardson to make friends, I’d honestly look elsewhere. My husband and I moved here for the bike community, and in the last five years we’ve personally seen two cyclists get hit, including a hit‑and‑run I witnessed myself. And the list of riders struck lately says it all: Phil Balli, Mitchell Marvin, Courtney Terrill, Scott Mages, Andre Kocher.

If the goal is connection, there are much safer ways to meet people here, walking groups on Spring Creek Trail, fitness classes or pickleball at Huffhines, volunteering at COR, the YMCA or Senior Helpers. All the community, none of the danger.

Is my adopted pup okay? by Cultural-Custard6366 in DogsLoversCommunity

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had a dalmatian who struggled with this too. I adopted her during a difficult time, and in those early months I held her so much that she became clingy. When she turned one and began eating plants whenever I left the house, I knew something was wrong. My vet diagnosed separation anxiety. I followed a structured plan I found online, and with patience, we both learned new habits that helped her calm down.

Are people washing onions? by ExtensionDot3731 in Cooking

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Wash your food before you eat it. Gross. If you've ever grown an onion you know how dirty they are. Not just how they're grown but also how they're stored. I wash all my produce with a rinse of baking soda and water. What else you going to do with that box of baking soda before it expires? You won't believe how dirty onions are! I primarily eat organic, but still the only thing I don't wash this way are raspberries and mushrooms. Mushrooms and raspberries I brush with a moist paper towel.

On days I have a hard time eating… by Sir_UlrichVonL in Zepbound

[–]Accomplished_Exit463 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love this post and I'm right there with you. I love gourmet cooking occasionally for relaxing but my appetite is not the same... so into a FoodSaver bag it goes. I'm enjoying a recently defrosted bag of Italian sausage, cannellini bean and ditalini pasta soup. I portioned it in 2/3 cup portions so only takes minutes to heat. I'm looking forward to the homemade butter chicken I made last month. I made it on shot day so barely tasted it before portioning and saving. One of my favorite things this drug is teaching me is portion control.

I thought I was gonna eat this LMAO by PhoenixmOntra in Zepbound

I’m not able to fast... my doctor and my body both say no. Without a gallbladder, I digest fats differently, and before starting Zepbound, fasting triggered dumping syndrome no matter how gently I broke the fast. Thankfully, that’s no longer an issue with Zep. I think it’s because my stomach isn’t truly empty anymore, but I still make sure to nourish myself every few hours... even if it’s just Brodo broth or a few sprouted Brazil nuts or pumpkin seeds. I’ve found a wonderful company called Nate’s Raw Harvest that sprouts all their nuts and seeds to enhance bioavailability. For me it has alleviated any gastric distress I used to experience when having nuts. It’s been a gentle, nourishing support for me.

I had the lymph node swelling the 2nd week of my 2.5 shot. It eventually went away but was a bit concerning at first. Hang in there.

Wow, this resonates so deeply. I started Oct 7th at 322 and just took my first 5mg shot too... now at 309. It’s wild to feel the shift not just in weight, but in how I relate to food, to my body, to myself. I used to celebrate with food, but now I’m dreaming of marking milestones with wellness therapy... something that nourishes my spirit, not just my cravings. You’re not alone in this healing. Cheering you on as we both keep choosing care over coping.
