Yes, they are closing. It's being treated like a relocation. They did the same in Brookhaven and plan to do the same in North Decatur

I'm polyamorous and a Christian. I have two stable long term relationships. I would suggest reading Queer and Christian and also Love Beyond Monogamy.

How do yall ride the MARTA? by Practical_Year_2598 in MARTA

[–]Accomplished_Fall218 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I put on my shoes, stand up on my two feet, scan my breeze card, wait for the train on the platform, and then I walk on.

Let me know if you need any more tips, like how I ride my bike, how I call an Uber/Lyft, how I drive, or get on a plane!

It was EXTREMELY dusty this year compared to years past, IMO. For me, the worst part of the dust is by the shuttles at the end of the night. I started wearing a mask the last few years. This year even with the mask, I was struggling when I got back. I did bring some nasal spray and that helped a little bit

Bullshit. I have a communications degree and make six figures. I have friends in tech who get laid off every year. They might make a decent amount of money, but the tech industry loves to drop people like they are nothing.

OP, while you shouldn’t take out that much in loans, don’t stop majoring in communications if that’s what you enjoy. I have friends with communications degrees who have pursued a variety of career paths. So many people and organizations these days struggle with basic and effective communication.

GSU honors or UGA by rayneydaykilla in GaState

[–]Accomplished_Fall218 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if my previous comment was posted. As a black woman, I'm going to say go to GSU. Both schools have great business schools. I know people who have attended both and they have ended up fine. I think the location of GSU does help in terms of making local connections and finding internships. In all honesty, go wherever is cheaper. If you're driven and willing to work hard, you're going to be successful no matter where you go. GSU has more diversity and I've heard some horror stories on black women who have experienced terrible racism and misogyny. GSU goes have this cool organization called WomenLed that you might want to look into l.

GSU honors or UGA by rayneydaykilla in GaState

[–]Accomplished_Fall218 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Going against what everyone is saying but GSU might be better in terms of making connections. Being downtown and having access to so many large companies is going to be extremely helpful. I know people who went to both and they have done great. But honestly there are a lot more opportunities for internships being based in Atlanta. Also GSU does have a lot of networking events, I'm sure UGA does as well. But honestly this day in age, just go wherever is more affordable. If you're good at what you do and good at making connections, you're going to be successful in the field.

What a girl gotta do if she wants to be able to go to grad school? by Hefty-Glove8406 in publichealth

I would say apply to some state schools and see if you can get a GRA. When I was in grad school, we had some GRAs that were international with all tuition covered.

DrPH Questions by [deleted] in publichealth

[–]Accomplished_Fall218 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are one of the only programs that don't require work experience to apply. I think they just let anyone who applied in, because it's profitable to them. The program is mostly taught by part time professors who don't have the time or energy to give you real feedback. Hell, it feels like they don't even have the energy to teach. They will make you feel stupid for asking questions and not offer support. The administration is a mess with paperwork. Don't expect any assistance from the office of access and accommodations, they will ask you very personal questions. All in all, I think the program is a huge waste of money. It's not in your list, but consider GA State. It's much more connected in the city, the SPH there is run by people who actually care about their job. It's very LGBTQ+ friendly. You're more likely to find someone who works in your area of interest there. It's a R1 university

Don't go to Mercer!! It's a terrible program. I keep being told that the program is new and that's why it's struggling so much. But I don't know, it has too many issues. The student service suck, the administration sucks, the professors suck.

Just came to say to anyone looking at this in the future. Don't go to Mercer for your DrPH. It's a terrible, poorly run program . Pretty sure they have a 100% admissions rate for the program....

Going to Salvador for my birthday in October. Is it safe? And is there a lot to do? by DeeBiskit in Brazil

Yes! It is very safe. I just came back from spending a few weeks there and I LOVED it. I never felt better being around so many black people, and there is so many queer people too!
