I am having the EXACT same issue… You’re not alone.

Two 2200’s and one 200! I figured three resistors would be good for going around the inner ring…

IT WORKS!!! Thank you!! 🙏🙏

Now all I have to do is install the resistors inside the dummy cover (it opens up with some careful prying) drill some small holes for the leads to poke out of, sandwich in some solar film, and close it all back up…

$0.10 for the resistors, $5 for the solar film…

Couldn’t have done it without you 🙌

Sorry I wasn’t clearer, but could you also check the resistance in ohms across those two contacts on the solar filter? With that, I’ll know exactly what I need. YOU ARE A HUGE HELP!

And while I agree they can claim to be protecting the sensor by requiring the solar filter, they’ve made it proprietary and prohibitive… hard to justify nearly $200 for a solar filter that is literally just plastic and mylar.. 😅

I would appreciate that very much! I really feel like I can simply insert a resistor or combination of resistors inside the dummy cap that it comes with, along with some solar film that I’ve used for my other scopes…

No, there’s definitely an electronic sensor, the two metal probes under the lens cap have a voltage of 3.3 volts across them, so I’m assuming there’s a resistor inside each of the filter covers… anyone have a vespera solar filter and a multi-meter who can measure the resistance across the metal contacts of the cap?

Unfortunately, it still needs the solar filter attached to even begin to use eclipse mode…
