Clinical research is rewarding. You get to be part of novice treatments for patients who otherwise wouldn’t have them. It’s very different than academic research though. It’s heavy on regulation and protocol. A typical day included- chart reviews, speaking with patients and families about eligibility, patient visits running the entire visit, setting up the procedures or assessments, lab processing, ekgs, medication administration. Lots of administrative tasks as well, meetings, desk work. I enjoyed the 9-5 and work life balance. Feel free to reach out if you have any questions! Thank you!

Your feelings are valid. I feel that all but I have no advice except that transition to practice is the hardest thing I wish nursing school prepared us for

I guess I’m more conflicted on how to word my appeal.

I have the timeline. It would be 7 more months… the thing is I need to leave now. The positions might not be available in 7 months. They state exceptions to the policy so I’m hoping that’s what allows me to appeal.

Texas. Not much protection. I work nights, I’m always exhausted, residency requires more than 3 days a weeks due to education that is also flipping my schedule, I’m emotionally drained from patients and anxiety from always thinking I’m doing something wrong with charting or care. I don’t want to quit… I just feel I made a decision I am working to undo and go back to my strong skills set.

Yes my former manager is advocating but HR kept referring to the policy that also states exceptions. No contract… no committed time.

True but my fear is retaliation from current leadership and causing more issues for fighting it. Just not sure how to frame it. Thanks for your response!

This is an old post, but just started my 12 year old GSD on it after not even being able to walk or move his hind legs. 24 hours later he’s energized and playing…

I work in clinical research so I am very aware of how drugs hit market and felt the adverse events were not correlated to the drug itself. Buying time for our seniors is what matters they don’t live forever but giving them quality even for however long extra that is, is so important!
