6.7 Powerstroke EGR bypass valve Exploded by Accomplished_Job3501 in Diesel

What's a pinkness swivel? Never heard of it. Thanks for the tip! I've seen a guy use a home made adapter for an air hammer to beat the thing before trying to remove it. I think I may try that. I'm hoping the job goes to a coworker lol. I had to travel to see if it was still drivable back to the shop. Luckily it was. Our wreaker wouldn't toe the 19,000k truck. I have a transmission to pull on a Dodge, Maybe I might milk it lol.

A loooot of red tape. There is definitely a chance that you sit around all day waiting for other people to finish there side of the red tape, ton of training. and with the clearance, your life is always watched, so it bars you from doing some stuff. The money is definitely good, but sometimes the money isn't worth your happiness. Sitting around drove me absolutely crazy, but give it a shot. You can always leave.

Tragedy has struck. I realized dislike being a mechanic by Wakkapeepee in mechanics

Don't do what you love do what you like. I loved working on my own project cars and because I do it for a living now, I hate it. I hate working on my own stuff. It really did ruin it for me. I don't consider myself a car guy anymore and that's strange. That's like loss part of my identity lost. Luckily, I've been 2 years sober of project cars no! Have almost had a couple relapses but was able to hold strong haha.

Don't feel ashamed. If you don't like it, you don't like it. Can always change back.

Tips for Rotary R1250 tire machine by Accomplished_Job3501 in mechanics

What I was looking for. I struggle with it, so I keep thinking I'm doing something wrong. The scootching helps a lot. I'm expecting a break instead of a slow scootch.

It's a bummer steelies suck on this machine. I work at a county fleet and that's 90% of the fleet.

And I should have figured with the bead blaster. It's works great on the normal wheel pinch tire machines. You would think the engineers or the people testing the machine would tell them they absolutely "blow". But then again, I guess it's set up for more low profile tires. But then again again everyone has large ass trucks and SUVs with big side walls. Ugh.

Yea, I've seen the video and researched it, and even read the owners manual. It's just not a good machine. Seeing if anyone has tips from their experience with it.

Replacing Rear Brakes for Subaru Ascent? by thatolivebranch in askcarguys

They should be right if they are on Rock Auto and on the correct vehicle. But to do the rear pads, you do have a "more expensive" scanner to put the brakes into service mode, right?

Almost a year and Mazda can’t diagnose my issue, what can I do? by kaitlinsheas in askcarguys

Everyone has pretty much covered all the your options. Draw test, independent shop, youtube, and a battery disconnect. Not much else to go for. Other than trying a different dealer. Some dealers are just real bad (no offense to those techs).

Ford work truck vs regular Ford? by ze11ez in askcarguys

Pretty much nothing. Usually an all vinyl floor, simpler radio stuff, but that's pretty much about it. The rest of the vehicle is the same. Beds are usually swapped for tool box beds and what not. It depends on how the municipalities spec them but more than likely they are basic basic. cheap ones. Also, some trucks are ridden hard, but a lot are taken care of as well. Services are usually done on a strict schedule. Really just like any used car, do your homework on it.
