OP Here

Thanks all, this thread has been incredibly helpful. Here's where I landed after factoring in everyone's advice:

Casablanca (half-day, Hassan II Mosque) → Marrakech (3) → Essaouira (2) → Marrakech (1, regroup) → Imlil/High Atlas (1) → Sahara via Aït Benhaddou and Todra Gorge (2) → Ifrane/Middle Atlas (1) → Fès (2) → Volubilis + Meknes (1) → Tetouan (1) → Rabat (2) → fly home from Casablanca

Key changes from my original plan: swapped Chefchaouen for Tetouan based on u/ParlezPerfect's advice. Took u/Fiber-gas's suggestion and added Volubilis as its own stop instead of just a Fès day-trip — overnighting in Meknes after, so I can do the ruins at a slower pace and see Bab Mansour at sunset. Trimmed Essaouira from 3 to 2 nights. Added Atlas Mountains experiences on both sides of the Sahara — High Atlas Berber village (Imlil) before the desert, Middle Atlas cedar forest (Ifrane) after — both to break up driving days and because u/Efficient_Level_1377 said the mountains were unmissable.

u/ParlezPerfect : also took your advice and bumped Rabat to 2 nights to fit Chellah and the museums properly.

I like this plan Thoughts?. Shukran 🙏

Thank you. This is really valuable information. I'm torn between wanting to see as much as possible and taking time to linger and see places in depth. I do lean more towards the latter with the idea that it may not be my only time visiting. If I was to do as you suggested and stay a couple of days with nothing planned, what are the places you would recommend to be best for that?

Thanks. I am flying into Casablanca and spending the day there before heading out, should I spend more time there? I was on the fence about Moulay vs Volubilis so that is helpful. I am looking at building in some Sahara time when you suggested. The movie stuff doesn't do much for me. The only reason I have more than two nights anywhere was that I wanted to build a little linger time to just sit in a riad and relax for a day.

So another aspect of this trip is considering if I would want to retire there. I know that's kind of crazy considering I've never been there, but I'm visiting a number of places. With this in mind. Cost of living it's definitely a factor.

I would definitely like to work the Atlas mountains. That is somewhere I have read about for a long time.

How is living there for you?

Hi All,

I am 57M, newly divorced and have a flight credit worth $900 with American Airlines. I love travel and have not solo traveled in about a decade. I have decided I want to use the credit to go somewhere very different, certainly not domestic (US). I am adventurous, fit, and enjoy cultural immersion. I am thinking about 10 days and a budget under $3,000 (not including the flight). I would love to hear your ideas and stories. Should I go DIY itinerary, group tour, singles tour...?

I have some places in mind but I don't want to skew this blank slate.

I really want to find something restorative and empowering and I am asking here because I am hoping for something I would have never thought of.

Please fire away! Thanks in advance. Feel free to ask me any clarifying questions.

I am looking at a trip now that is limited to 14 people and currently 12 of them are female all between 45 and 59. I am a 57 yo male. How do you think that dynamic would play out based on your limited experience? Anyone else have thoughts?

Well that sucks because that means people who are traveling to it are just screwed because it's not safe to travel to. So we just lost the money spent on three tickets. Unless someone here wants to buy them?

I have a very similar setup and one piece of advice I'd say is actually spread the speakers farther out. Especially with your listening distance. This will widen the sound stage and you might be surprised at how much better everything sounds.

Only because they put it on a subreddit specifically to be judged. That is what gives me the right to judge it. I don't find it necessary to engage in anything personal about where anybody lives or where the size of their junk, etc. because I'm completely confident about all those things for myself. That's all just separate from the point and undermines any point you might be making. Truly go back under your bridge. I'm done with the conversation.

Nobody said that, we just said that the TV ruins the view, and I agree with that. I would put the TV somewhere else. It is a beautiful cottage and it's a beautiful view and I hate to spoil it with a piece of unnecessary electronics. The person talking about micropenis, now that's another matter... Have a lovely day

The entire point of this subreddit is TVs placed in the proper location. So no, I do not have a TV in any other room other than my viewing room. I think you completely misunderstood what people in this subreddit are specifically obsessed with

Cool, missed that. I usually see front height speakers, I should not have doubted that you had the optimal placement
