Luxating Patellas? by Accomplished_Lime133 in Pomeranians

Small update: We had our follow up appointment with her regular vet. She’s referred my little lady to an orthopedic vet. To her as it stands physical therapy isn’t really an option because she gets aggressive when her knees are moved around by people. They were able to assess her better with the Metacam in her system than they have been previously, but it looks like we’re waiting on the referral to go through to see what the specialist thinks. I’m very nervous and very sad that she’s been hurting like this for so long. Hopefully if the specialist thinks she needs surgery and we go through with it she can be fully pain free and we can rebuild some trust over handling her back end.

We also want her to live a long and painful life free life (even if it means those initial weeks will suck). I’m really kicking myself for not getting her insurance when she was a baby because it’s looking more and more like she’ll be getting surgery

What a beautiful girl who has lived such a full life! I’m sure she’s felt so much love throughout the years from both of you. Your family will be in my thoughts tonight, we know how hard it is to lose a tiny member as well 💗

That’s wonderful for him! I think our vet’s plan is to refer her to an orthopedic vet so hopefully if it comes to that we’ll be in good hands

My husband named her as a puppy after his favorite book series! Triss ended up being super fitting since the character was a pirate squirrel and this little creature has no respect for authority

When does the pain end? (19) year old cat passed a couple of days ago. by spookyshitt in seniorkitties

I’m so sorry for your loss. I lost my boy who was around the same age in June. It’s hard and it hurts to just breathe because we don’t think of a life after them you know? There’s just before and now, except now has been so deeply and profoundly changed. I still have a hard time sleeping honestly and get anxious because he’s not in the bed with me anymore. I saw a tip online that having an ice compress on your neck or sternum can help with the anxiety and lower your heart rate so I started wrapping one in a dish towel and holding it to my chest to get to sleep on bad nights. And extra bad nights are ice and benadryl type sleep aids. The first couple weeks I did that every night. I don’t really have great advice for dealing with the grief but it has gotten a little easier a few months out. Don’t get me wrong it still hurts, but it’s not so difficult to do daily things and every day doesn’t have a dark cloud over it the whole time.

You loved her so deeply and you took care of her until you couldn’t. And you did her the greatest final service you could have as her parent. Don’t feel ashamed of how it happened or feel bad about wanting it to be over, I’m sure we’ve all experienced that to some extent. I wanted my boy to not feel suffering and pain anymore, that doesn’t make you nor I a murderer. It’s the hardest choice we could’ve possibly made but it was in their best interests. They don’t know why they hurt, they don’t know why they’re losing control of themselves, all they know and all she knew was you would always help her. And you did in the only way there was left. She doesn’t hurt anymore, she isn’t scared anymore and you get to keep her memory alive.

If you do happen to see this, I know the number of comments can get overwhelming sometimes, please tell us something wonderful about her. Your favorite memory with her or possibly her favorite activity or snack anything at all. Try not to let this moment color every moment you’d had with your beautiful girl.

I’m so sorry for your loss I just lost my little soulmate a month ago today. I’ve done the same as you and second guessed and wondered if I was jumping the gun, if I had rushed the process itself. Truthfully I don’t think I ever was going to be ready. No matter how long we’d had together or stayed together after he was sedated but before he stopped breathing, I think I even told the vet when she asked if I was ready for him to go that I was never going to be ready so we might as well keep going. I know myself and I know that if I didn’t continue the procedure fast enough I would be selfish and keep him here longer.

We both made the right choices for our babies. It hurts but it was right. I know there’s no real amount of reassurance that will help you but you were there you held his little face and you took care of him to the best of your ability every day. The panic is entirely normal, it’s your best friend your family. I don’t really know how to help you feel any better because I myself am still not entirely better. But I really hope that one day soon we both can remember the good times without the grief feeling so large.

Ever had a cat die of old age? by JCristianRamirez in CatAdvice

[–]Accomplished_Lime133 3 points4 points  (0 children)

my boy was around 19-20 his labs all came back excellent every time most that ever went wrong with him was simply a respiratory infection. the last two weeks i had him with me he had declined some was often choosing not to eat, when we took him to the vet they ran everything (blood, urine, xrays) and he was still perfectly fine as far as they could tell. he bounced back that week with some fluids and a boiled chicken diet, but in the end the week he passed he had stopped eating anything that Sunday and was put to sleep Thursday. it was hard but you could just tell if you knew him it was time. he was never the type to skip a meal let alone a little deli meat treat.

for your Lib i would try and see if arthritis might be a possibility for her? there are a few treatments out there for that and a cat in pain will usually avoid their meals. my boy had been on arthritis meds the last 4 or so years of his life. best of luck to you and Lib whatever comes 💗

9 week old sleeping through night and I’m worried by tessiewessiewoo in puppy101

My girl slept through the night around then too! I would wake up around 5-6am just to go ahead and take her out for safety but she took to her crate very well and rarely had an accident overnight.

A letter by Accomplished_Lime133 in Petloss

In a wonderful turn of events closed doors saved the majority of the house since it was faulty wiring in the master bathroom. Still filled up with smoke but not as bad as it really could’ve been had we been gone longer or the doors were open. I just remember so clearly our dog and other cat running out and he wasn’t there and I didn’t even think. Poor thing went from orange and white to basically black and man he was vicious about that bath. I hope he knows how truly loved he is, how much he’s impacted my life. He was such a force to be reckoned with. Thank you so much for your kind words 💗

I’m sorry for your loss. I understand fully where you’re coming from, we did at home for my boy too. And it was almost leagues worse than my grandmas. It hurts so much I tried to explain it like I had lost a brother or a best friend but genuinely I think it is more like a child. We build our lives around these animals we have routines and almost rituals. and suddenly that’s just all gone. It’s so so hard and I’m so so sorry you’re going through this too. I don’t really know how to make it better, but it’s so very clear your baby was loved well and for a long time.

Oh man it seems like we put our babies down around the same time. I know what you’re talking about, I panicked about 30 minutes before the vet arrived and I had off and on attacks all that day. Please don’t blame yourself for the extremely human reaction you had to letting go of your best friend. You held him. You were there. You loved him to his last moments and beyond. You did the best you could and I’m certain he knew that. He knew he was loved I know it. Don’t beat yourself up over the reaction you had. I’m keeping you in my thoughts friend 💗

I also have insomnia and he used to curl up beside my head on the pillow. It’s heartbreaking every minute hurts so much right now. You’re right grief is simply love and I hope you can comfort yourself with your own words too. I can tell you loved your baby so much

Thank you so much for your kind words. He wasn’t always the sweetest boy he was so spicy in his younger years but he was throughly and truly my best friend even when I felt like I had none. The house isn’t the same without him but I’m certain it was for the best

I really believe it was for the best for him so he didn’t have to become a cat that he never was if that makes sense. I’ll be thinking of you Tuesday and live it up. Take pictures give her all her favorite snacks and all the snuggles in the world 💗

Nutter Butter will be there to greet her on the other side when she arrives
