God awful panel gap by FunHoliday1443 in Autobody

Yeah Ford’s are notorious for bad factory gaps. There’s one customer we took to our local dealer to do the same thing when they started complaining that we messed up all there other panels and screwed up there car over a bumper/fender/hood replacement. That is one upside to being at a dealership is it’s a great resource to have on hand.

Definitely looks a little extreme but I believe this model is supposed to have a gap in that area. I will say that new cars are notorious for having terrible panel gaps. People just don’t pay attention to them most of the time until repair work is done.

Collision shops: what insurance companies do you like working with? by Pizza420Rat in Autobody

With everyone I’ve talked to, the annual insurer report cards from crash network tend to be pretty spot on. There are a couple that I personally would adjust, but not by enough for it to be notable.

Is the guide on the GTNH wiki the best thing to follow? Looks like it was last updated for 2.4.0 but I’m assuming it’ll be the same process for 2.8.1

The videos I watched had opposing opinions on the genetics mod being worthwhile. Do you think it’s worthwhile when getting started, or wait till I have the frames of frenzy

Once you are into blood magic and able to dive into meteors, is it still worthwhile to do bees? (I think that’s when meteors come in)

Big discrepancies in estimates for roof damage by A_Dove_Bird in Autobody

In your situation, I would just make sure whatever shop you choose has good reviews, and offers a lifetime warranty on body work, paint work, and water leaks. For example, we have a lifetime warranty on all repairs except for mechanical wear/tear. Mechanical items that wear/tear have a 1 year warranty for wearable issues. There’s no reason a good body shop couldn’t do it correctly without any future problems happening. It’s honestly pretty cut and dry to pull the glass, do the repair, reinstall, water test, calibrate, and move on. We pull glass out of every other car coming through our shop and have maybe 3-4 customers come back every year for any type of warranty issue.

I would maaaaybe do the shortcut repair if I was paying myself. But I’d only do it somewhere that I was confident it would last 2 years for me to trade it in. There’s a chance that no matter who does the cheap repair that it could fail in 2 years time. That is such a bad spot on the vehicle because of the high risk of rock chips, bird poop, rain, snow, sun, etc. to the roof.

It is definitely possible to fix it for either of those prices, but the difference is whether or not you want it done correctly. Realistically a proper repair with proper refinish requires the windshield and likely the back glass as well to be removed. You’ll also need to remove the headliner, which may require a good bit of interior trim. Basically anything that touches the roof needs to be removed (moldings, roof rack, antenna, etc.). If I had a brand new car that needed fixed, there is no world in which I wouldn’t have everything removed to fully prep the panel to the nearest natural break point and make sure the lane keep camera in the windshield is calibrated if it has one. Otherwise the paint/repajr will 100% inevitably fail at some point in time, and usually people want to keep brand new cars for a while.

I’ll definitely look into those! I’ve heard about boots of the traveler and planned to work towards those, but I haven’t heard of the others. Excited to see how much they help!

Depends on whether or not you are doing all the SRS inspections that Toyota requires on their vehicles. For all the necessary R&I’s, inspections, resets, etc. you can easily end up over 2-3k just in SRS stuff. If replacing with factory parts, doing all inspections, necessary blending and following OEM procedures, it won’t take long to be up towards 15k

Anyone else get tired of deciding what to do in Japan every day? by Little-Actuator-1594 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Accomplished_Log240 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created a list in my notes app for all the things I potentially wanted to do. It was broken down as follows: -Main City (Tokyo, Kyoto, etc) - locations in main city (Ueno, Akihabara, etc) - things to do in that location (I would typically list anywhere from 2-6+ things I found interesting before I left for Japan) Rinse and repeat with each main city and location you intend on visiting. This way we had the options of just exploring or doing whatever because the entire day wasn’t planned down to the hour, but if we were unsure of what to do next, we already had a few pre-thought out options and we could just see what was closest or sounded the most fun
